PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant (2011 - 2012)

University of Texas at Arlington, Department of Civil Engineering

Worked for TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) as a Graduate Research Assistant to examine the effect of Recycled Plastic Pins (RPPs) in slope stability applications in major Highways in Texas. Worked for the City of Denton, Texas, as a Graduate Research Assistant in Landfill and Waste management project that included Landfill gas to energy development project, Renewable Fuel, Application of Resistivity imaging to analyze the soil moisture effects, Waste composition and characterization like determining the physical composition of waste and examining its effect on waste unit weight., permeability, and moisture content.

Research Assistant (2016 - Present)

University of Kentucky, Department of Civil Engineering

Performed extensive research on various sites at Kentucky with an aim to investigate and predict rainfall induced landslide. The work constituted wide-ranged testing and analysis which includes preparing compacted specimen, performing tri-axial test, conducting finite element simulations using PLAXIS to evaluate the slope behavior during a complete cycle of a season and predicting the seasonal variation of in-situ hydrologic behavior using an analytical transient infiltration model in MATHCAD Prime 6.0. The Web Soil Survey and HYDRUS were employed to obtain the in-situ soil hydrologic parameters as inputs for setting up the test sites in PLAXIS. Prior the analysis, the model for the test sites built in PLAXIS were calibrated based on the measured in-situ soil hydrologic data. For some test sites, the in-situ soil hydrologic measurements were obtained using the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) data.

Research Assistant (Summers 2018 - 2020)

Kentucky Geological Survey, Landslides Hazard Section

The work dealt with three active landslides which were monitored by the Kentucky Geological Survey. The aim of the work was to provide means to predict the in-situ soil hydrologic behavior from a measured rainfall data. The work is published as a journal article which is shown under the “PUBLICATIONS” title.

Teaching Assistant (2016 - Present)

University of Kentucky, Department of Civil Engineering

Taught the laboratory section of the soil mechanics course to the aspiring undergraduates as a principal instructor. The course covered all the possible geotechnical engineering laboratory tests, required for an undergraduate to fully understand the strength and behavioral characteristics of a soil

Engineering Consultant (2012-2013)

Vitti Sthapati Brindo Ltd.,Bangladesh

Worked in the project of “The Asian University for Women”, as a project engineer.

Engineering Consultant (2012 - 2013)

Medway Consultancy Services (U.K) Ltd., Bangladesh

Worked as an Inspection Engineer under and actively involved in Bangladesh Garments Inspection as a Structure and Fire Safety Auditor with the following responsibilities as mentioned

Structural designs of existing buildings for design acceptance.

Identify strength and weaknesses in existing buildings by design review and visual inspection of buildings

Fire safety and inspection on factories

Prepare detailed reports of all above

Conducted an actual live load carrying capacity of a Factory by imposing the design loads on a slab.

Engineering Consultant (2018)

Associated Engineers, Inc., Madisonville, Kentucky

Conducted and prepared soil tri-axial test report for the Midway South Soil Testing project. The tests were performed as Isotropic Consolidation Undrained test (CIU) at three different confining stresses. Maximum stress, minimum stress and pore pressure at failure were reported.

Faculty lecturer (2015 - present)

North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh

Currently serving as a faculty member (on study-leave) in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at North South University Bangladesh which is ranked 4 in Bangladesh and 228 in Asian University rankings. Taught various courses including Visual C++, Engineering Geology and Geomorphology, Civil Engineering Drawing using AutoCAD. Besides academic duties offered contributions in various departmental activities such as organizing Civil Fest 2015, Contributor in the School of Engineering and Physical Science news, Lab development.
