Project Name :Baseline study of Flora Fauna at Proposed Uranium Mining Site at Gogi, Gulbarga District, Karnataka

Technologies Used : Erdas Imagine 8.6,ESRI Arc GIS,SQL Server.

Description of Project :

The main purpose of this project is to study the impact on flora & fauna due to the proposed Uranium Mining Site by using RS & GIS. In the present study the data required for the analysis is generated using Remote Sensing data, Survey of India toposheets and collateral data. The first phase was confined to 5km area from Gogi town.

The rectified land sat image of Mar 2003 & 1975 of 30m res was obtained by ordering /downloading from USGS website. The toposheets of 1:50000 and 1:25000 scale was procured from Survey of India. The Image Processing software Erdas Imagine was used for Registration of toposheets & for sub setting of satellite image. Thematic layers namely Village boundaries, Barren lands, Roads, Water bodies & Built up lands with attributes was prepared by using Arc Map 9.2.The Collateral data of flora & fauna along with GPS points of particular villages was collected from other researchers was uploaded to the digitized map in Arc GIS environment & by using SQL server.

Project Name :Geo Spatial Technique for Selection of Suitable Sites for Dumping Municipal Solid Waste for Tumkur city.

Technologies Used :VB,ASP Map,Auto Cad Map 2000,Arc Map,Spatial Analyst tool.

Description of Project :

In the present study an attempt has been made for the selection of suitable sites for dumping Municipal Solid Waste (MSW). In order to have a scientific way of identifying dumping sites and to maintain healthy environment zone, cutting edge technology such as RS and GIS have been used. By integrating RS and GIS technology, criteria based risk maps, such as Ground water risk map, Physiographic risk map and Sensitive zone risk map are prepared and Geo database is developed to obtain the results explicitly using ASP application and services. Through Web-GIS interface, people can use the GIS information available using Internet/Intranet for viewing and sharing.
