October 2012 to February 2013

Designed temporary pump out free-hand isometric piping sketches for fabrication and material take-off for the entire FCC Unit. Field verification of contractor’s completed construction work for the “turnaround” ensuring as-built compliance to the BP P&IDs, standards and protocol.

Ensured quality check of Tesoro’s piping and instrumentation diagrams (P & IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), instrument loop diagrams, piping inspection isometrics, piping construction isometrics, piping orthographic plans & elevations, underground yard piping, line summary database, plot & site plans, plumbing, architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, civil, environmental, HVAC and safety drawings for compliance with Tesoro’s standards when revisions were submitted by various clients. Utilized various Access programs and Excel substrate matrixes. Communicated discrepancies, inconsistencies and problems to clients with proposed solutions regarding the submitted drawings with documented telephone calls & emails.

PRINCIPAL PIPING DESIGNER: The R.E.M. Engineering Co, Inc, Pasadena, CA

May 2003 to May 2004

Tasks included lead designer and checker. Rendered drawings of various piping plans, sections and details for water pipe restoration design proposal with isolation gate valves for start-up, maintenance and shut down operations, site plans and single line diagrams employing ACAD 2002 employing model space, paper space, viewports, x-refs, linetype scales, plot scales, imaging with tif files & raster files (gp4) and editing color tables.

February 2003 to May 2003

Generated cold small-bore, hand-drawn isometrics, including complete material take off for the service of instrument air to specific user-defined temperature, flow & pressure control valves, numerous skid units, diverse vendor-supplied valves and service air to utility stations for the entire power plant with the assistance of a Microstation 3-D Model, utilizing the line sketch mode along with 3D rendering, field verification, developed as-built P & IDs, plot plan, underground & aboveground piping plans, large-bore isometrics, civil, structural and instrument location plans.

PRINCIPAL PIPING DESIGNER: Raymond Professional Group, Inc Western Regional Office, Bakersfield, CA June 2002 to October 2002.

Responsible for the development of aboveground piping layouts, equipment orientations for mechanical/piping construction drawing packages. Generated equipment orientations of horizontal vessels, tanks, and flowline gathering/test manifolds. Also responsible for preparation of plot plans, piping plans, sections, details, the location of pipe supports, P&ID modifications/recommendations, piping material take-offs, load calculations, tie-in list, and checking. All drawings prepared using ACAD software program. Coordinated design efforts between process, instrumentation, mechanical, structural, electrical and project via inter-discipline squad checks. Performed field walk-downs, measured and verified equipment and piping.

PRINCIPAL PIPING DESIGNER: Bibb and Associates Company, Inc Western Region Office (A Peter Kiewit Company), Pasadena, CA January 2001 to April 2002.

Developed and revised 3-D isometrics utilizing Plant-4D software. Checked isometrics both in Kansas City, Kansas (Home Office) and in Pasadena, California. Designed underground & aboveground pipeways, yard piping plans, sections, and transpositions using Microstation/J. Coordinated with the client and other disciplines on the design and location of specialized pipe supports. Generated hand-drawn small-bore isometrics. Produced non-intelligent P & IDs in ACAD. Field-experienced.

PRINCIPAL PIPING DESIGNER: Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Group Inc and Parsons Process Group Inc., Pasadena, CA March 1997 to January 2001

Provided detailed Microstation piping plans, plot plans and sections of instrumented scraper launchers and receiver facilities for various pipeline sites with pump stations, valve/meter stations and pressure reducing stations. Created and revised isometrics using Intergraph PDS and Microstation. Performed checking duties. Some preparation of manpower estimates. Produced tie-in configurations/designs, piping, transpositions and MTO’s. Assisted other designers as CAD Coordinator. Tracked drawing status in Excel and Access. Coordinated with other engineering disciplines. Executed implementation of hold-downs on compressor piping isometrics and plan drawings. Prepared drawings for Livelink transmission and retrieval.
