(Vision Outspoken Inspire Create Evolve) For Teens, in attempt to prove with numbers that through guidance and true rehabilitation behind bars, it will decrease the recidivism rates at Stonewall. If proven to be right, it will show that the government has the power to keep inmates from returning to prison but choose to keep them in an endless cycle due to lack of recovery while incarcerated.
Hours Spent: 2 years to create; implemented for my last six months until I left to attend Howard University
Location: Northwest School of the Arts
Description: My clubmates and I organized a walk-out at school in response to the trend of school shootings in the United States. After the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, we felt it was our responsibility to help our fellow classmates gain knowledge on gun violence, gun laws, and how much power we have as citizens when voicing our opinions on topics concerning our nation. Over 300 students participated, and witnessed a powerpoint put together by my V.O.I.C.E. club.
Hours Spent: 1 year to create; still continuing at Northwest School of the Arts
