Multibillion dollar renovation of the Qatar International Airport

Achievements

Drafted tenders for different elements of the woks needed to expand the airport, including but not limited to construction of retail spaces, supply and provision of fixtures and furnishings, etc.

Plot 01 Viva Bahriya – Commercial Director (March 2019 – December 2019)

500 million dollar project for the design and build of a Luxury Hotel and Mixed Use Development located in the prestigious West Bay District, on a man-made island (the Pearl Qatar), consisting of a hotel, 3 residential towers, a waterfront restaurant and residential villas.

Achievements

Managed team of 5, in design phase of project, to ensure designer’s compliance with contract requirements.

Prepared and issued tenders and contracts for sub-consultant contracts for geotechnical works, a traffic impact study, an environmental study and a marine works design.

Prepared and processed payment applications for the project’s designer, quantity surveying company and project manager.

Lusail Light Rail Tram – Project Director (May 2016 - March 2019)

2 billion dollar project for the design and build of Qatar’s first Tramway, consisting of:

33.7 km track length (depot track length is not included)

29 Stations (16 At-Grade, 10 Underground, 2 semi at-grade, 1 viaduct

1 depot, maintenance, storage and operations facility plus test track and 28 vehicles

Achievements

Led a team of 45, comprised of technical and commercial professionals and administrative staff to address the project’s budget and schedule to ensure the project was completed on time and met the employer’s requirements.

In coordination with the client engaged in drafting and implementing a strategy to address all the projects issues including but not limited to, design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning, variations, claims, project close-out, etc.

Took over the project upon completion of the design phase and managed it through receiving QCDD approvals of numerous sections of the project.

Reviewed, addressed and settled over 750 million dollars of claims.

Qatar Foundation Research and Development Complex – Commercial Director (June 2013 - August 2016)

A one billion QAR project for the design and construction of Qatar’s first research center. Project consisted of the design and build of three main facilities with a foot print of 19,000 m2 and total built up area of 45,500 m2 and included the following:

South Building: it consisted of two floors and a penthouse for MRP equipment and services with a total built up area of 16,250 m2. It included Administration Offices, a Multi-Purpose Hall, Computer labs, a Super Data Center, Specialized labs with supporting offices, meeting and conference rooms, a two story atrium and a cafeteria

North Building: It consisted of two floors and a penthouse for MEP equipment and services, with a total built up area of 24,662 m2. It includes seven sophisticated research labs, a high bay, and about 210 individual researches offices, 48 working stations around the labs and 32 meeting and conference rooms. There is a total of more than 1300 pieces of lab equipment for very sophisticated research, such as NMR, MBE, SEM & TEM

Utility Building: with a total area of 4300 m2, It consisted of two floors totally devoted for MEP equipment, 11 Transformers, MV room, Generator’s room, Nitrogen tank, in addition to loading and receiving area

Achievements

Primarily addressing all the project’s commercial and contractual issues including but not limited to preparation and negotiation of subcontractor agreements drafting and preparation or processing of interim payment applications.

Drafted and/or reviewed majority of project’s correspondence.

Prepared, negotiated and addressed numerous variations and claims with the client’s project manager, ASTAD.

BARWA City - Commercial Manager (February 2009 – June 2013)

A local community made up of 6,000 apartments in over 100 buildings, across lush green grass and surroundings. The development also included, the design and build of a sewage treatment plant, a district cooling plant, schools, shopping malls, restaurants, nurseries, retail outlets, a bank, health club, mosques, and a variety of recreational facilities for residents, with extensive landscaping

Achievements

Led a team of 50 in managing the project’s supervisory consultant and contractor on behalf of the client, Barwa.

Reviewed existing contracts, developed scope of services for project management plan, negotiated and drafted tender documents, assisted in the preparation and negotiation of contracts for design and construction of project’s structures and amenities

Implemented claims guidelines and negotiated and settled consultants and contractor’s variation requests and claims, including representing the client before the Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) for claims in excess of 100,000,000 QAR

Dubai Maritime City Claims Manager (September 2008- February 2009)

A billion dollar industrial and commercial project in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Industrial Precinct consisted of marine services primarily dealing with ship lifts, warehouses, workshops and repairs, as well as supporting retail showrooms. The Commercial District was a mixed use area and consisted of retail, residential, office towers and a promenade

Reviewed exiting contracts and claims. Assisted in negotiating and settling over $100,000,000.00 in claims for less than $25,000,000.00.

Valley Square Shopping Center - Project Manager (February 2005 - January 2006)

The design and build of shopping center featuring major retail buildings and fit-outs for Staples, Michaels, Sports Authority, Circuit City as well as construction and fit-outs of buildings for other retail stores such as Sleepys, Wine and Spirits, Hair Cuttery, and Create “n” Fun Toys, etc

Procured construction permits and managed the project through the issuance of the use and occupancy permits.

Reviewed blueprints, drafter and or responded to RFIs; change orders; onsite supervision of subcontractors and company employees; scheduling; attended meetings and addressed outstanding issues with architects, engineers, tenants and owner’s representatives.
