PROJECT SUMMARY

Title: Fabrication and Testing of Cashew Shell based Sandwich Composite

Place: BS Abdur rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology

Description: Filling the cashew nutshell with epoxy resin and arranging it like a honeycomb structure

where epoxy is filled in between the cashew nutshell. The second layer is covered with glass fibre. The

whole composite matrix look like a sandwich type. Then the matrix is cured with Acetone. Then the matrix

is subjected to DMA test, Tensile test, Impact test, SEM Imaging and Biodegradability Test. The properties

of the composite are well studied. It is found that the composite has some similar proper ties that of hemp

fibre but has more impact and tensile strength. The composite is found to be a biodegradability by adding

some other filters like PLA and many other biodegradable polymers, but the properties changes accordingly.
