JOB

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Duties:

Prepare Comprehensive structural analysis and full detailed design calculation and check the stability of structures under static and dynamic loads.

Apply loads and forces in accordance with appropriate international standards.

Use computer software as (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, …) to perform structural analysis and design.

Prepare the necessary reports for all design stages; including the concept, integrity and structural proposals.

Study and evaluate the projects site investigation and geotechnical soil reports before implementing the design figures into the structural calculation.

Liaise with the authorities in order to get their approval on the Design/drawings such as:

Municipalities across UAE.

Musanada (Abu Dhabi).

Tarakhees (Dubai).

Dubai Development Authority DDA.

Follow-up the site construction activities with clients, contractor, and subcontractors.

Coordinate with architectural Engineers and MEP Department during the review of the structural shop drawings.

Coordinate with, MEP Engineer during the review of the builder work drawings.

Ensure that the contractor shop drawings comply with the project specifications and authority approved drawings.

Provide technical solutions to structural problems that impede the construction works.

Evaluate architectural and mechanical changes and propose alternative structural design in line with the structural limits mentioned in the local and international codes.

Attends progress and co-ordination meetings to assist the managers in resolving any site issues such as discrepancies in project’s drawings.

Ensure that responses to contractors’ submittals are complete and in compliance with the contract documents.

Management Duties:

Provides leadership, general guidance and management to staff

(Engineers, Draughtsman, ...)

Ensure effective communications and co-ordinations between all supervised staff, Lead Engineers of other departments and Project Managers, to ensure mutual awareness of requirements and sharing of information and common resources.

Monitor overall productivity and efficiency of the projects, forecast trends and anticipate potential problems and difficulties meeting milestones or budget, coordinate with Head of Department, Management, Projects Managers and all supervised staff to resolve problems.

Implement and maintain productivity targets for supervised staff, including monitoring of overtime and budgeted man hours.

Conduct routine meetings with supervised staff to monitor the projects performance and assess their performance.

Prepare an estimate of required man hours along with supporting documentation for both proposals and major change orders prior to issuance.

Implement staffing development plans and assign staff to specific projects or proposals.

Develop the departments capability and enhance the technical expertise of staff to suit the present marketplace, through proper training & development, selective recruitment, evaluation of staff, continuous monitoring & assessment of staff and utilization of up-to-date software.

Interfacing and coordination at all levels as required with the Client, Lead Consultant, Sub-consultants, Main Contractor and Sub-contractors during the design and construction phases.

Report to head of department periodically on team/individual progress.

Prepare reports and maintain records of design work coordinate with other departments.

Responsible for overview and quality of deliverables produced by project team.
