Work Experience
Aeronautics Laboratory Technician – 40/50 hrs per week
Akzonobel - Troy, MI 2017
Responsibilities included executing numerous chemical tests on chemical compounds as well as physical tests. On the chemical and physical tests, I had to spray my own paint materials. On some accounts I was responsible to make my own paints. This was not just combining several liquids, but also from several powders to make viable paints, that could later be sprayed at various temperature levels; this was to help make viable paints in my division for aerospace. This was a contract assignment.
Quality Control Laboratory Technician - 40/50 hrs per week
Henkel- Wayne County, MI 2016
Responsibilities included executing several chemical tests on chemical compounds, as well as executing physical tests. As a Quality Laboratory Technician, I was responsible to test chemical compounds, ranging from simple titrations to using complicated machinery. This was for one single purpose, which was to generate a product that not only meets our customers' demands but exceed them. The challenge was to exceed goals using simply mathematics along with chemistry properties. My responsibilities included working individually, as well as on a team – the variety made it appealing for me. This was a contract assignment.
Laboratory Technician - 40/50 hrs per week
BASF- Southfield, MI 2015 - 2016
This company makes and provides paints, coatings and polymers to the automotive industry. Key responsibilities included making automotive paints, as well as using analytical equipment to analyze different material for various uses. As a Laboratory Technician, I was responsible for developing and experimenting different paints on behalf of various requests with different materials. Testing, analyzing, I was able to improve paint components. I worked both individually and as part of a team. Also, I was responsible to develop presentations as part of the final product for the clients' representatives - these presentations included both the data and the analysis. Created / read in over 180 panels and analyzed the wear and tear for temperatures. Supervised, managed and designed tests for a special project. Created 4-6 waterborne paints a day typically - also created resins, solvent borne paints, and clear coats. Worked with different aluminium materials and micas to help with sealing, damping, coating and bonding. Executed low and high sheer tests to determine if the paint coatings fit the automotive companies' standards. Exercised particle size distribution tests to see if paints would fit the clients' standards, if not exceed them. This was a contract assignment.
Technician - 40/50 hrs per week
Intertek- Kentwood, MI 2015
Responsibilities included being a Technician in the Environmental Group of the Materials Department. Performed tests from weathering, adhesions, odor tests, grit tests, and chemical exposures, to name a few. Multitasking was essential for this position. These tests require resourcefulness, adaptability, timeliness and collaborative efforts with others.
Camp Facilitator
Lions Bear Lake Camp 2008 – 2009 Summers only
Led team building exercises for kids who are visually impaired, hearing impaired, and kids who had severe arthritis. Some of these exercises were just games, but most of these games taught many life lessons -- how to communicate, how to be leaders, and how to trust others.
Volunteer Efforts
Project Shalom – annual community effort which focuses on giving back & helping those that can no longer tend to home projects. Some of these projects would include something along the lines, like building a wheelchair ramp, painting a garage door, or even raking leaves.
Relay for Life – annual cancer fundraiser effort to help support cancer research. This runs near and dear to me, since I’ve been personally impacted with several members of my family having this challenge.
