To whom it may concern;
Please accept my resume and application.
My work and educational experience has provided me with the knowledge, skill and judgment of working under pressure in a variety of settings and situations, and has reinforced the importance of remaining calm and professional at all times. My experiences have also reinforced the importance of embracing learning opportunities, respecting new ways of thinking and playing an active role in ongoing learning and change.
My most recent professional experience is working as a perinatal educator, where my primary role and responsibilities include both corporate and program specific (Women and Children’s Program) activities. These activities include things such as creating and delivering staff education and orientation, corporate accreditation preparation, policy development and implementation, mentoring and coaching staff while promoting clinical champions, and best practice. Other activities include leading, supporting and participating in quality improvement and safety initiatives, as well as a wide variety of related committee work. Within this leadership role, I have been able to continually broaden my nursing and corporate knowledge base, strengthen my leadership capacity and enhance my teaching abilities through the use of creativity, innovation, and technology. This position has continually provided me with ongoing challenges and learning opportunities that will undoubtedly assist me in my future professional endeavours.
I am a MOREOB core team member and administrator, and help to facilitate annual goal identification and strategic planning, staff engagement and involvement, and annual education. I am also currently a System Manager for the electronic documentation system, Intellipace Perinatal and was a part of both the initial implementation and more recently program building and implementation. I am a certified Fetal Heart Surveillance and Neonatal Resuscitation Program instructor and have assisted in the instruction of both initial and recertification’s for nursing staff, registered midwives and obstetricians, have completed the STABLE course and have completed the Level 1 (20 hours) Breastfeeding course. I am more recently a member of the Board of Directors at the Canadian Association of Perinatal and Women’s Health Nurses (CAPWHN), and a member of the Ontario Fetal Health Surveillance Steering Committee. These positions have enhanced my ability to participate in both provincial and federal education opportunities and have fostered networking relations. My most recent education includes activities to enhance my knowledge in simulation training and critical care. In addition, I am also an appointed article reviewer, for the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing (JOGNN). This opportunity allows for me to stay abreast to upcoming changes and discoveries in scientific literature. Within the nursing profession, I have also worked as a perinatal staff nurse in a Level 2C Labour and Delivery and Post Partum Unit. This connection to the patient, their experience and to the evolving bedside practice, has aided me to remain abreast to current community trends, but also has enabled me to keep my clinical skills current and assists me in potential identifying the needs of staff and areas for process or quality improvement. My roles during this time included bedside nursing, committee work, and at various times, I have assisted in prenatal course instruction, mentored graduating and newly hired staff, and have facilitated the triage, non-stress test and maternal newborn registration clinic. As evidenced by the education experiences, I am committed to ongoing education and learning, and continual professional development. My most recent formal education includes the completion a doctorate nursing program, through the University of Arizona. which I majored in Reducing Risks and Promoting Health in Vulnerable Populations. My dissertation research stemmed from both my clinical and educational background, in which I explored the paternal experience of perinatal loss, themes related to constructing meaning following a perinatal loss and what coping strategies facilitated and/or hinder the construction of experiential meaning following such a tragic loss. Prior to the completion of this program, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing through York University. My theoretical focus of the latter program was guided by human science nursing theory and concerned the human health experience of suffering, specifically related to the paternal experience of perinatal loss.
My educational and professional experience (s) and success thus far, have helped me to build a solid foundation to which I can continue to broaden my horizons and meet my future personal and professional goals. I am personally committed to ongoing learning and promoting quality and safety initiatives. I feel that I am an ideal candidate to which I hope you feel consideration is warranted. I am also willing, able, flexible, committed, responsible, reliable, punctual and have excellent references. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity as well as for your valuable time and consideration, I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours truly,
Meghan Elizabeth Cellamare, RN, BScN, MScN, PhD
