Heparanase is an endoglucuronidase that cleaves heparan sulfate, thereby regulating the structure and functions of heparan sulfate and proteoglycans and remodeling cell surfaces and the extracellular matrix.Heparanse is a multifaceted protein endowed with enzymatic activity, as an endo-β-D-Glucuronidase, and non- enzymatic functions.In addition to more recent investigation in various rare diseases the present review provides an overview on Heparanase, it's biological role, inhibitors and covering the latest findings in these area.
