Private clinic (1991-currently )

I receive referrals from general practitioners and self referrals from patient with cardiology issues such as ischemic heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, and congestive heart failure.

In addition, I also treat patients with different medical, surgical and psychological problems.

My Role is a Cardiology Consultant in different departments (2007 till present)

Patient load is about 16 patients /day, in addition to 10 patients in CCU. And also outpatient Cardiology patients, at an average 25 patient / day once weekly. I'm also the attending physician responsible for Ecocardiography and stress EKG clinics once a week.

I worked on call at the emergency department, where I manage all cardiac emergencies including acute coronary syndrome, hypertension emergencies, acute strokes.

Medical director of a newly founded cathlab in my hospital (2012-2015).

Member of the board, trainer and a mentor in the Egyptian fellowship program of Cardiology at my hospital (in 2021).

My role as a cardiology specialist (1995 - 2007):

Similar to the role of consultant, but may refer to the consultant for more support of decision making.

Residency . (March1990- 1995).

Role as a resident:

During that period I was part of the team who manage patients in inpatient wards and outpatient clinic in: Cardiology and internal medicine.

8-hours shifts twice in ICU, and two 8- hours shift in ER per week . I was responsible for examination, admission, follow up and monitoring (clinical and ECG monitoring) and continuous assessment of their condition, under the supervision of the specialists and consultants.

. In ICU department, I managed a variety of critically ill patients including medical emergencies, and cardiac emergencies (patients with acute coronary syndrome, acute pulmonary oedema, pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrhythmias and hypertensive emergencies).

Attended and actively participate as a lecturer in nearly all continued medical education in Port Said, and attend many Cardiology conferences each year in Cairo and Alexandria where I actively participate as a lecturer in some of them.

My role was a Cardiology Consultant in outpatient clinic and on call for CCU unit.

I worked as a clinical assistant at Cardiology department at Saint. Boniface hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba in March and April 2017.

In Rural Port Said Hospitals (1989-1990)

General practitioner in rural areas in Port Said such as El Kabouty, El Diba Bahr elBakar, Port Said Egypt.

My role included:

Treatment of all common medical conditions and referring patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. I focused on the health of the whole person combining physical, psychological and social aspects of care. Sometimes I looked after patients in their homes and within the communities where they live. I was promoting, preventing and initiating treatment of many diseases, such as:

Chronic illness, with the aim to keep people in their own homes and ensuring they are as well as they possibly can be. such as D.M., hypertension, dyslipidaemia, cardiac diseases such as ischemic heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, and congestive heart failure and chest diseases (such as chest infection, COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and pulmonary hypertension of different aetiologies including primary pulmonary hypertension).

Obstetrics and gynaecology (for example, gynaecological infection, PAP test, counciled ladies for contraception and inserted IUDs and did antenatal care.

Paediatrics: Regular check-up for neonates and all paediatric ages and immunisations.

I also performed minor surgeries.

Psychiatry. (I was often the first point of contact for anyone with a physical or mental health problem and patients can be at their most anxious. Looking after the whole person - the physical, emotional, social, spiritual, cultural and economic aspects through patient-centered approaches is a vital part of my role. This is becoming more important with terminally ill patients often choosing to stay at home.
