This facility consisted of producing directionally solidified (DS) or single crystal (SC) parts for the aerospace and internal gas turbine (IGT) industries. Processed the DS 7H/9H Third Stage Bucket and a tundish within the investment casting facility, from wax to shipment. Participated in short courses relating to the processing of nickel superalloys. Frequently related to the customer their progression of their parts up to and including First Piece Qualification. August 1999 – September 2000 Cold Metal Products, Plant Metallurgist; Process Metallurgical Engineer, Indianapolis, IN This steel rolling mill consisted of bright anneal, normalize, slit, and cut-to-length. I assisted in the daily expedition of mostly medium grade steel coils, from SPC to troubleshooting. Conducted metallurgical tests such as tensile and microscopy. Assisted the Sr. Process Engineer in short- and long-term projects. Consulted with vendors and customers to better assist their needs. August 1997 – August 1998 FirstMiss Steel, Process Metallurgist, Hollsopple, PA This steel foundry consisted of pouring low-to-high grade steels, tool steels, and stainless steels. Confirmed chemistry to customer orders as well as certified ingot orders. Conducted certification for in-house processes for a government contract, from setup to shipment. April 1995 – August 1996 Zollner Pistons, Metallurgical Engineer, Ft. Wayne, IN This permanent mold aluminum foundry consisted of mold creation, setup, pour, anneal, finish, and semi-finish aluminum pistons for the automotive, diesel, and marine industries. Failure analysis and documentation of both in-house and field tests. Conducted a foundry project in the recycling of the iron-rich aluminum dipping pots, and flow filtration using ceramic filters.
