DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
. Assisting doctors for intensive procedures like cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR), umbilical catheterization etc.
• Care of babies who require cool cap therapy as well as body cool therapy.
• Care of new baby under phototherapy.
• Baby bath and cord care.
• Assisting the mother for breast feeding and educating the mother regarding
the advantages of breast feeding.
• Newborn screening tests
It includes the blood test, hearing test and screening for congenital
heart diseases is recommended.
• Multidisciplinary functions include respiratory therapy, audiometry etc.
• Administer medicines and document therapeutic effects after observation.
• Monitor established respiratory therapy and intravenous therapy.
Level I NICU care for infants with minor problems.
• Level I NICU care for infants with minor problems.
• Level III NICU care for sick infants requiring a high level of intensive care,
including mechanical ventilation. Includes care needs following extremely
low birth weight and premature birth.
• Pre and post-operative care for infants undergoing major surgical procedures.
• Multidisciplinary functions include obstetrics, respiratory therapy, pediatric
cardiology, pediatric surgery, clinical genetics, neurosciences,
ophthalmology, orthopedic surgery, urology, physiotherapy, occupational
therapy, speech therapy, and others.
• Parental counseling and health education.
• Support services providing efficient service including laboratory, radiology,
pharmacy, and others.
• Neonatal follow-up service.
