Title: REDUCE INTERNAL REJECTION OF “END CUT ON WEB FOR

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE BRAKE ASSEMBLY “

• The project is on defect reduction in brake assembly web.

• The web is considered to be heart of drum brake assembly system the defect is profile end

cut considered to be high severity due to on brake application all the cam actuation units like

Rim, Slack Adjuster, Chamber Bracket, Cam Shaft, Torque Plate, Lined Shoe, Fulcrum end,

Retainer Spring & Return Spring assembled in the part of web and the entire brake

transmitted load applied in the web through cam shaft.

• The problem occurs in the part of web, the defect called “profile end cut”, this defect is

occurring due to improper location in the fixtures, misalignment by stoppers in cropping

operation and forming variation in forming operation is not meeting the drawing

requirements, on analysing the defect using the PDCA cycle approaches.
