RE: Application for Work as a Technical/Production Manager in Dubai To whom it may concern
My name is Megan Holder and I would like to submit my CV for consideration for a job for work in Dubai. The COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed the events industry in South Africa, and as a sole-proprietor, I have not had any regular contracts in the last 19 months. Events and installations are planned and cancelled daily, and sadly it is no longer viable to work as freelancer in the industry, particularly in KZN where I am based. During this period, I have been attempting to upskill myself by working and studying towards my Electrician’s qualification through an online college in South Africa, whilst attempting to service my client base with general maintenance of rigs and installations that I am responsible for. However, even this has become complicated because many clients now have to decide between maintenance programs and keeping their staff employed. All of this has added to the general demise of our industry in this country. I am particularly interested in being employed as a Technical Stage Manager, Production Manager, Stage Manager or show caller (as this covers my essential skill set) but I am able to work as a sound designer and engineer, as well as a lighting technician and followspot operator, if necessary. I am familiar with many of the digital consoles, and am prepared to learn any new technology that we, very honestly, do not have access to in South Africa. I work well in a team, and am also a self-starter and individually motivated to succeed. I am comfortable working with groups, and regularly manage large technical teams of (mostly) male colleagues when doing installation work. I understand that the job will temporarily take me away from my husband and our life together here in South Africa. He understands the nature of this job, as he manages a successful regional theatre and works as a concert pianist, and Lighting Designer in KZN. We have discussed this at length, and, to be perfectly frank, my complete and total lack of MEGAN HOLDER – CV and COVERING LETTER

income during this pandemic has necessitated me trying to find employment outside of the country in order for us to survive.
I believe that I am a suitable candidate, and look forward to your favourable response. Yours sincerely
Megan (Audrey) Holder
