BIOCHEMICAL GENETIC LAB (Inborn Error of Metabolism) EXPERIENCES: (More than 5-Years)

I was involved to start Biochemical Genetic Lab for the diagnosis of inborn error of metabolism by the analysis of Urine Organic acid, Urine Succinylacetone on GCMS and Quantification analysis of amino acids (plasma, CSF & Urine) on Biochrom 30+. Perform all validation study for both instrument and prepared section manual as per CAP guideline.

Optimize new born screening tests like dried blood spot neonatal TSH on spectrofluorometer and developed new born screening program.

Optimized plasma homocysteine/methionine profile on Biochrom30+.

Optimized plasma MSUD- profile on Biochrom30+.

Section in-charge of Biochemical Genetic Lab:

Perform independently all tests of the biochemical genetic lab (inborn error of metabolism) as well as issue reports. Attend QC, CAP and general meetings with all other section and departmental heads. Maintain inventory of the department. Deal with all administrative issues of the section including with vendor regarding instrument trouble shooting.

In-Charge of Drugs Section, Receiving Section & Manual Section:

Responsible for making purchase requisition, maintaining inventory, Reporting and SOP of the section for clinical laboratory

Quality Assurance Committee Member:

Responsible for maintaining Quality Control (QC) for BGL section, maintaining QC for various tests in relation external QC like ERNDIM and collage of American Pathologist (CAP).

Learning and Development Coordinator:

Responsible to maintain Learning and developmental activities, orientation and training of newly hired and on-board staff. Assist Manager/Assistant Manager in facilitating the staff orientation and training program. Scheduling staff orientation and training, safety/security, quality assurance and other technical training. Maintaining staff training and competency assessments record in staff personal file. Coordinates in conducting lectures for continuing education of staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES IN AKUH:

Run and make report and discuss with head of department regarding ERNDIM (external QC for IEM) results.

Deal with supplier regarding kits, control and calibrator's shelf life inventory and make purchase order.

Costing of new test.

Developed Competency Checklist / form of Clinical Chemistry Department.

Make biochemical genetic lab Strategic Goals for next Year.

Working to introduce new tests/ new instruments for the expansion of IEM –Screening.

Nova Blood Gasses: For arterial blood gases. Know the trouble shooting as well as.

Axsym (Abbott): For all infertility tests, thyroid tests. All tumor markers & metabolic disordered tests perform in this analyzer. I have well knowledge about performing tests and all trouble shootings. MEIA & FPIA techniques are using in this machine.

Immulite 2000 & 1000 (DPC): For all hormones tests, Troponin-I, CKMB, Tumor markers & BHCG. I have well knowledge to perform these tests and as well as trouble shootings.

TDX & IMX (Abbott): For different Hormones and drugs level detection by using MEIA & FPIA methodology, I have well knowledge to use this machine for these tests and as well as I know the trouble shootings.

Micro lab (Merck) ;I know how to run enzyme assays on the Instrument

& its maintenance

Thermo Spectronic; I have well knowledge the instrument use to run urine chemistry tests like VMA,5HIAA

Breath Hydrogen Tests (Quintron model 12i microlyzer): Perform Breath Hydrogen test for lactose intolerance. I have well knowledge how to perform this test on this machine.

Sweat Chloride (Macro duct conductivity method by Wescor): Perform sweat chloride test for cystic fibrosis disease. I know how to perform this test on this machine and as well as interpretation.

Osmometer: The advance Osmometer model 3D3 for measuring serum and urine sample. I have worked on this instrument.

Hitachi 912 (Roche Diagnostic): I have worked on this instrument and know how to use this instrument. For all routine chemistries and lipid profile tests.
