Perform duties as Site Coordinator for Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Grant Program and point of contact for community stakeholders.
Research best practices in criminal justice field, including organizational structures and management processes across multiple jurisdictions in order to facilitate a streamlined workflow between agencies that allowed for the timely review and submission of backlogged Sexual Assault Kits (SAKs).
Collaborate with Forensics Lab, Law Enforcement, Prosecution, Advocacy, and SANE to implement best practices in a system-wide effort to improve the experience of victims and survivors.
Write and manage SAKI Grant Program as Programmatic Point of Contact.
Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and special conditions of the SAKI grant program as Financial Point of Contact.
Supervise SAKI Court Advocates’ day to day duties and ensure quality Victim Services are provided to all Sexual Assault survivors pursuing prosecution through the DA’s Office.
Build and maintain community relationships in order to maintain a Sexual Assault Multidisciplinary Team that works to ensure community buy-in and oversight of Victim Services, forensic exams, investigations, and prosecutions for current and cold case Sexual Assaults.
Analyze cold case Sexual Assaults for serial perpetration, public-safety risk, and likelihood of CODIS Hit.
Conduct and supervise research on cold case Sexual Assaults through statewide court database, DA office case management system, state driver’s license database, state forensics database, as well as run criminal histories through NCIC.
Collaborate with law enforcement to search for Victims to ensure notification on all SAKI cases.
Input ViCAP eligible case entries.

Services included individual counseling, group counseling, psychoeducational groups, prevention education, awareness presentations and activities, criminal justice advocacy, medical advocacy and legal advocacy.
Wrote and managed grants including the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs- Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant and Sexual Assault Support Program (SASP) grant, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), Junior League of Birmingham.
Collaborated with Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to write $400,000 Sexual Assault Justice Initiative (SAJI) grant from the Department of Justice’ Office of Violence Against Women to implement a county-wide law enforcement protocol in response to sexual assault.
Collaborated with Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to write $1.5 million Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) grant from the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance to inventory, track, and submit cold case Sexual Assault Kits in order to eliminate the backlog and ensure policies and protocols were in place to guarantee no backlog would exist in the future.
Coordinated SANE Liaison Committee/Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) for Jefferson County – worked with Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Bessemer Division of Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Tarrant Police Department, Children’s Hospital SANE, Alabama of Forensic Sciences to ensure quality, coordinated services are available to survivors of sexual violence in Jefferson County.
