I under went all the training required as a Production Unit Unit Head with Al- safi Dairy Establishment. Artificial Insemination,Caving Assistance, data entry and retrieval from Herds Management Software, and animal treatments such as drenching, magnet application, dehorning, vaccinations, intravenous/Subcutaneous/intramuscular injection treatments, and pregnancy diagnosis and performance of minor operations.

2019 -2021

Farm Manager Premier Dairy Farm, Khartoum, Sudan.

Management of all facets of Production and Financial Aspects.

Hands on Experience as a Stockman, Milkman, Breeder and Animal Health and equipment Operator.

A growing Dairy Farm of 1500 Holstens and 6 Center Pivots for irrigation of fodder crops.

600 Ha under Alfalfa,Corn,Sudan Grass and Rhodes grass.

The farm was producing 6000 - 14,000 Ltrs of Milk per day for the Company Dairy factory.

2013 – 2017:

In 2013 I was promoted in Alsafi Dairy Farm in Alkharj, Saudi Arabia to the Asssistant Overall Farm Manager in Al Azizia Dairy farm .The Farm had Both Beef and Dairy cows and Total Herds was 5600 Holsteins.

We were wholly in charge of all operations such as Land Cultivation Planting fodder crops, enlisting fodder, Mixing and delivery of feeds, equipment maintenance including Boreholes and water treatment plant, security and sales of Milk and Beef. We achieved to win a lot of prizes and certificates in regards to low cows and calf mortality, cleanest milk awards and lowest feed cost per litre of milk.

a) 2000 – 2012 : I worked as a UNIT HEAD of a Milk Production Unit (Unit 70) with Al-Safi Dairy Establishment, Saudi Arabia.

Al-Safi is a large Dairy farm with a total milking herd of 60,000 Holstein cows. As a Production Unit Head I managed a herd of 3,000 milking cows in Pens of 100 cows fed on Total Mixed Rations (TMR) The average production per cow is 43 litres/cow/day. I had joined in 2000 as an Assistant Production Supervisor.

My Work Overview:

I was wholly in charge of managing and supervising all routines in the Unit, this involves working in liaison with the Nutritionist, Dairy Plant, Veterinary Consultants and Maintenance Teams to ensure a smooth and coordinated flow of operations in the unit.

Preparation of the Farm Unit budget at the beginning of the year and working to ensure all the KPIs are achieved in various categories such as feed cost/cow,milk cost per litre per cow/weight gain per kg of feed in beef,herds fertility/pregnancy rates,mortality,still borns,mastitis,milk quality,labour and utility costs.

Mine was a hands on approach and at least six hour per day are spent in the Cow pen and Milking Palour.We are on call 24 hours per day.

Milking. I was responsible in Implementing and maintaining

stringent quality standards in compliance with International Standards Organization (ISO) throughout the milk production process,I supervise Implementation and follow up of milking procedures and cleanliness of milking equipment and palours to achieve the target Milk Quality in terms of bacteria and somatic cells count,

.This involves working with closely and training of Headmilkers and Milkers on proper milking techniques such pre-milking strip-outs, pre-milking teat spraying and the importance of post miking teat dips.I also maintained foot-baths, detection of lame,Dry cow therapy,mastitis and Pink milk diagnosis and treatment,Ensure proper dilution of post milking teat dips, running the CIP programs for cleaning of the milklines and balance tank and the milk road tankers.preparation of the copper sulphate/formalin foot Dips.Segregation of Staph positive cows and antibiotic cow, Routine sampling of Iodine sprays, water guns and bulk milk and sending to the samples to the laboratory

Management and Supervision employees (skilled and semi-skilled) and we schedule their leaves and day-offs using a personnel payroll program. I trained and evaluated the foremen, stockmen and headmilkers on their duties and responsibilities and filling out the evaluation reports. Management of the herds using specialized herd’s management software,DairyCom 305, the Alfa Laval Alpro program for parlours/milk recording and (ERP) SAP System for maintenance purposes.

Feeding : Planting fodder crops,harvesting and preparation of silages and Hays. Mixing of different feed rations and implementing the farms feeding regimes, grouping of cows according to yields, days in milk and cow status and delivering the required feed in correct and amounts for various rations.

Animal Health: Implementing and carrying out of animal health procedures in conjunction with the chief veterinarians in all animal health practices in the unit such as Vaccinations (i.e Foot and Mouth,Triangle 4,Botulism and Ultrabac,Scourguards for close calvers Calving Assistance,,new born calf care(,feeding of first Colostrums to calve) hoof trimmings, interpreting and administering treatments advices as per the Unit vet, segregation of sick, staphylococcus Aureus cows and antibiotic cows and adhering to milk and beef withdrawal periods after treatments..

Management reporting, keeping and updating of Unit records cow record cards and in the herds management program. We Generate and interpret the reports i.e. Daily reports, monthly reports and yearly reports which are mainly on milk production, feeds, Drugs, Fertility and costs reports.

Breeding: Implementation of the farm breeding policy. Performing the mandatory 4 days,12 days and 35 days postnatal check and uterine and ovarian treatments, Hormone protocols(pre sync and Ovisync),Heat detection both visual and by heat detection aids, AI and monitoring that all the AI technicians are following the farms AI procedures. Confirming of pregnancy at 56 day PDs and at dry-off by rectal palpation. Selection of cows for breeding and culling of cows according breeding policy.

Equipment Maitenance.

Preparation of Routine maintenance schedules for the Milking Palour, Cooling Plant and all the other farm equipment such as pick Up trucks,Tractors,Loaders and Feeds Wagons.

Working with maintenance teams to Repair all breakages, mechanical, electrical thereby ensuring a smooth

Uninterrupted flow of operations in the Farm.

b)1993 – 1999: I worked with Kenya Nut Co. Limited, Morendat farm, Naivasha, Kenya as the Livestock Manager. I managed1200 Boran breed for beef under feedlot system,150 Holstein in the Dairy herd under Zero grazing on TMR, 500 herds of Doper breed of Sheep and a herd of 1000 Saneen goats all under semi-intensive natural grazing in Rangeland conditions. The Ranch is 3500 acres, of which 50% is fenced and paddocked and the remainder is an open grazing block served with sporadic watering points.

I ran the crops and feed operations, growing the fodder crops tilling, planting preparing silages and hays from Rhodes grass, Corn, Sorghum, Canola and Alfalfa and subsequent formulating,mixing with premix and feeding the TMR to the milking Herd and feedlot beef.
