I worked with this daycare throughout most of my high school years. My job consisted of assisting the lead of a group of kids through daily activities that were scheduled before/after school, and also for about 40 hours a week over the summer. The duties varied, depending on which age group I was assigned to work with, ranging from preschoolers to 6th graders. No matter the age group, I was expected to encourage a safe and comfortable environment with the kids, while also constructing healthy relationships between them, along with having clear communication with the students’ parents regarding their kids’ behavior and progress.

The pieces ranged in size and quantity, and my job consisted of making the pieces look as concise and neat as possible throughout each process. It was necessary that I could sit/stand for long periods of time while working, which required a lot of patience when dealing with fragile pieces. I was recommended this job through my high school ceramics teacher, since experience was required.

I started this job as a housekeeper, cleaning between 11-21 rooms in a day. After about a month I moved up to Assistant Housekeeping Supervisor, which required coming an hour before all the housekeepers to assign rooms in the system and supervise housekeepers throughout the day. I supervised whenever the manager or housekeeping supervisor had days off, which was generally on weekends between 7am-4pm. I also worked at the front desk which required a lot of confident and energized interactions with guests from all over the world daily, as well an understanding for operating a register.
