Education

Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad Dhanbad M.Sc.Tech in Applied Geophysics, GPA: 8.1/10 2014–2017

– Thesis: “Joint inversion of Ps Receiver function and Rayleigh wave Group velocity for Lithospheric structure beneath Deccan Plateau”

Vinoba Bhave Univeristy Hazaribagh

B.Sc.Hons.(Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry,Environmental Science, English) 2011–2014 Research Experience/Teaching

IIT KANPUR KANPUR

Project Associate in Earth Science Department March 2019 - Till now

– Ps Receiver function and Rayleigh wave group velocity dispersion curve inversion to carryout the crust and Mantle structure beneath Amsterdam- st.Paul Island nearby South-East Indian Ridge in Indian Ocean.

– Ps Receiver functions account for the Moho depth and other seismic discontinuity. Surface waves are sensitive to the average velocity structure rather than velocity contrast.

– The Moho depth was found to be between 13 km to 17 km range. This indicated the presence of thin underplating owing to Plume. Later arrivals led to Low velocity zone beneath 60 km depth. This could signify either LAB or Plume head.

– Advisor: Dr. Dibakar Ghosal

Indian Institute of Science,IISc Bangalore Bangalore Junior Research Fellow in Centre of Earth Science August 2017- December 2018

– Courses: Mantle convection and Numerical modelling, Topics in Geophysics, Plate Tectonics and Evolution, Mathematical Geophysics.

– Review on Physical Mechanism of generation of thermochemical plume from Core-Mantle boundary.

– Considering LLSVP denser than ambient mantle, as evident from its stability and at the same time, lower density explained by thermal anomaly. I tried to understand the cut-off thermodynamic parameters that can lead to plume generation.

– Advisor: Dr. Attreyee Ghosh
