ACHIEVEMENTS:
I am a 56 year old trade tested Fitter and Turner, being employed at New Era Packaging as the Head of Maintenance till the end of February 2020, at period of retrenchment. I am an innovative, hardworking, self-motivated team member, who is self-sufficient when not supervised. I can describe myself as being extremely committed but also balanced, I always want to learn more and better myself.
I will be an asset to any company because of the knowledge I possess and my need thereof, my innovative thinking, my interpersonal skills, understanding of urgency towards production and business, always striving to obtain maximum output and keep costs low. I am proud of the following achievements obtained at New Era Packaging:
• Installing, commissioning and maintaining of new Mitsubishi Corrugating Machinery
• Starch plant, designed and commissioned for corrugating machine (within a set budget)
• Installation, commissioning and maintaining of our TCY Converting Machine
• Upgrading of corrugated converting machines vacuum transfer, decreasing downtime by 90%
• Managing maintenance team and maintaining plant machinery with a 97%, uptime achieved monthly

• In March 2017, I accompanied a colleague to Palermo (Italy) to dismantle and take out the machine (oven) for the company’s Canning Plant in Atlantis. The machine was dismantled and pack into containers to be shipped to South Africa. The duration of this project was 19 days spend in Italy. The moment the machines arrived in Atlantis, the rigging team/crew and myself unpacked the containers and have it stored until installation was due. With the arrival of the technician, I assisted with the installation process and the commissioning of the line for the handover to the production unit.
• In August 2019, management requested me to assist with a project where we had to move the TCY- Printer, to make way for a new BOBST 5 colour printer. My duty was to make sure that all the civil works were done, before I installed the new track for the TCY Printer.
To put the tracks down and level, I made use of a dumpy level to make sure that tracks are 100% level, for the machine to open and close easy. After that was completed, the rigging team and myself moved the compete machine to the new place, where we connected everything and commissioned it for production.
Soon after that, I was in charge to oversee all civil works to be completed according to plan for the new BOBST Printer.
I had to ensure, with the help of the rigging crew, that all machine parts was unpacked from the containers and stored for installation. I also assisted the technicians from BOBST with the installation of the printer and commissioning of it to the production line and thus make sure that the production team are happy.
Yours sincerely
Hilton W Johannes
