PROJECT

Title: In Vitro cytotoxicity assays of lapachol isolated from endophytic fungus, Alternaria species of Tabebuia argentea

Role: Team Member

Abstract of Project: Tabebuia argentea leaf, flower and stem were collected form Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Tumkur. Collected plant parts were inoculated in 3 petriplates containing potato dextrose agar medium and out of 8 endophytes we get, from that we have isolated and identified Alternaria species, isolated endophyte extracted by using solvent methanol and filtered. And filtrate is subjected to anthraquinones and lapachol test. Anti-mitotic and Anti-proliferative activity is checked using onion root tip test and yeast assay. Based on the results obtained it is concluded Alternaria species may be a good candidate for the treatment of cancer.

DNA Isolation and Purification, SDS-PAGE, Electrophoresis, TLC, Biochemical tests, Immunoassays, ELISA, Gram staining and Microbial counting CONFERENCES/WORKSHOPS ATTENDED:

• Participated in National level Workshop on “ANIMAL CELL CULTURE AND ITS TECHNIQUES” held in Saptagiri college of Engineering.

• Participated in International Conference on “STIMULATING THE LEARNERS FOR RESEARCH IN BIOTECHNOLOGY” held in Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology.

• Participated in National level workshop conducted at Agastya foundation, held in Kuppam on 7th April 2013.
