I worked with the Kenya marine and fisheries institute in Kisumu, Kenya i.e. KEMFRI ‘s laboratory technical personnel in budget preparation for water quality assessment, with a focus on heavy metal detection in water zones within wetland areas of Kakamega area i.e. Rosterman village within artisanal mining activities and determining microbial activity in the wetland area. In partnership with artisanal and small-scale gold miners of Kakamega, I was involved in supporting local supply chain due diligence, traceability; and formalization under the 2016 Mining Act. Providing technical assistance on mineral processing, mercury-free gold recovery, environmental health and safety, sound chemicals management, and building local capacities for post-mining land use through bamboo planting thus promoting ecological restoration . 2
