Omar Sawwas

I was able to fulfill at Beirut Arab University the total number of credits required in a total of 4 years.

(Graduation) 23/6/2021

CGPA: 3.6/4

Final Year Project:

Steel/Reinforced Concrete Residential Building

Project Zero is a residential tower structure consisting of:

• total of 25 stories of 3.2 meters height each

• A gymnasium on the ground floor

• 24 typical floors

• A rooftop swimming pool/elevated water tank

• 2 basement/parking floors

• 2 elevators and 2 staircases

Structural Topics covered during the projects:

• Design of Encased Columns, Filled Columns, Braced/Unbraced steel columns

• Ribbed Slab

• Reinforced Concrete Core Wall design

• Steel Beams & Girders

• Frame System

• Curved Beams

• Brackets

• Reinforced Concrete Water Tank

• Reinforced Concrete Stairs

• Lateral Loads (wind, earthquake based on ASCE16 code of Practice) Codes Used:

• ACI318

• AISC

• ASCE16 Software Used:

• CSI products (Sap2000, ETABS17, SAFE16)

• Robot Structural Analysis (modeling and analysis of rectangular water tank)

• Autodesk Revit

• Autocad

• Excel : different excel sheets where prepared since same procedures with different parameters were recognized so many iterations of the same work should have been done, so excel was the suitable mean to be used where sheets of:

1. Braced/Unbraced beam-column equations were defined 2. Floor Beams, Girders flexural design equations were defined. 3. Steel Connections.

4. Slab Design

5. Stairs

6. Columns

7. Retaining Walls…

Column Design of Composite Encased Columns:

Simple Connection Excelsheet:

Conclusion:

My ambition in steel design and reinforced concrete structures mainly led me to try to apply all my knowledge in this domain, challenge myself in topics that we had to learn on our own, search for, read in the code, and finally read articles and books in different topics of interest. I tend to have extra practical experience as a Civil Engineer (structural engineer). Finally, I think I can add up something good to civil engineering with some help by professional engineers.
