1. I started my nursing career at Salem Hospital in Salem, Ore. In 1968 I became a CNA through Salem Hospitals first CNA class ever offered to the facilities Junior Auxiliary Nursing Service (J.A.N’s).. While completing high school, college and three year diploma nursing program I continued working as CNA at Salem, Hospital.
2. I made my decision to become a nurse at a very young age. I was born with a birth defect and because of that I had several surgeries. I spent a good portion of my childhood at Emanuel and Good Samaritan Hospitals in Portland, Ore. From my experience I learned much about the nursing profession. I witnessed the compassion, the skill and the importance of Knowledge. 3. In 1958 I was chosen as a representative of the Easter Seals Campaign. My picture was on the front page of our community newspaper.
4. I was the recipient of two Salem Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships for furthering my education. 5. Nursing is my life. It’s all I ever wanted. To be an outstanding nurse you must first have a compassionate heart.

Report in to LN upon arrival, verify adequate staffing, obtain brief report on each resident from the assigned LN, assist with resident care as needed by LN ie; resident assessment, medication administration, CBG's, resident treatments and document all findings in EMR Check emails from Administrator, DON, RCM, Social Services Worker and Medical Records. Address any issues or concerns.
Make resident rounds greeting each resident and discussing any concerns they may have. Monitor dining room during meal times.

Monitor resident care and the assigned ADL's are being completed in a timely manner. Complete all UR chart reviews on the EMR & connect with all LN to make sure they're aware to complete record keeping on each of their residents.
Monitor all lab reports and notify designated providers of abnormalities. Take orders from providers, record all new orders on resident charts, alert LN of all new orders. Fax orders to pharmacy, labs and diagnostic providers. Check Crash Cart, Oxygen Tanks and Suction.
