A personal mission/vision statement

As an MSN and FNP, I understand that I will oversee staff and delegate many interventions to staff for patients that I am caring for. As such, I intend to be a strong, dependable and effective leader to empower the nurses on my team and provide as much patient autonomy as possible. I will use evidenced based practice when creating treatment plans for my patients and will not ask nurses to perform duties outside of their scope of practice. My goal is to someday have my own practice with a focus on population health, which provides primary care across the life span, to patients in their home if necessary. The leadership that I hope to provide, is one of compassion, competence and effective communication. Discovering my strengths is the first step in becoming the leader I hope to be. My primary aim for care is to provide the type of care that encourages autonomy of the patient, education and information about all possible treatments, education about possible outcomes and side effects and then allowing to the patient to ultimately decide on the next steps. I fully understand the responsibility I will have as an FNP, whether I am overseeing care, directly treating, or providing education to future nurses. I do not take this responsibility lightly and will utilize all available tools to ensure whatever I am doing, it results in the best possible outcomes.

I am a Colorado native and have lived on the Western Slope my entire life. I have been in healthcare my entire adult life and have worked my way through licensing and degrees, starting with my CNA license. I currently hold my FNP license in Colorado and am hoping to find a position that allows me to use my license to serve my community. As a recent graduate, I know that I am more of a risk than others, but I also know that I offer a wealth of knowledge and experience from my years as a nurse.
