Personal Statement

My great passion in life is helping others both young-old and everyone in between. This is why I pursued nursing studies and obtained my CNA license (licensed in both Colorado and New Mexico). I have a great aptitude for details and believe that often doing the small things for others can make a big difference. To be skilled and qualified to do even more, I continue to take classes in a Medical Assistant Program at Dixie Technical College.

Education

3-06-2013 License CNA for the State of Colorado

2-25-2013 License CNA for State of New Mexico

10-13-2012 Graduate of CNA program at San Juan College, Farmington, NM

1999 Community of Learners Charter School: High School Diploma

I am currently in a Medical Assistant Program at Dixie Technical College

Key Characteristics

and Capabilities

Dependable: My work history is replete with my being punctual and looking after my responsibilities to the smallest detail.

Strong

Communicator: I have taken several classes in communication skills, such as active listening, and I have a strong work record of listening to others to understand their needs and point of view and in expressing effectively my own perspective.

Computer

Literate: I am proficient in Access, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Professional

Responsibilities

Patient Care: As a CNA at Mercy Regional Medical Center, I assisted nurses by taking patients’ vital signs, assisting patients with their hygiene needs, ambulated patients in the hallway, notifying the nursing staff if there was a concerning change in the patients’ condition, watched over patients who were at risk of hurting themselves or trying to prematurely leave the hospital, among other duties and responsibilities.

Infant & Toddler

Care: As an instructor and caregiver, I helped toddlers with their ABCs, color recognition, animal identification, and other learning and developmental activities in preparation for pre-school. I also helped the toddlers learn to independently dress themselves, improve their physical coordination and development, and play effectively with others. For infants, I fed them, put them down for naps, changed diapers, and other activities to assist in their care and development. Also, because of my dependability, I was asked to help open and close the facility every morning and evening.

Education Support Professional:

As an aide on the special needs school bus I assist the bus driver with keeping the kids calm and safe on the bus; I do this by sitting by them and reading to them, talking to them, making sure they are buckled, keeping their hands and bodies to themselves, not spitting on other people on the bus, making sure that they have a quiet voice so the bus driver can hear the CB radio and making sure that they don’t get agitated.
