ACADEMICS (i) POWER FACTOR CORRECTED BOOST CONTROLLER :- The main objective of the PFC

circuit is to reduce the power pollution that takes place due to introduction of non linear

loads. Power factor is one of the most important factor when we are looking for efficient

use of electric energy. It reduces total harmonic distortion at input mains. Power Factor

Correction using boost controller shapes the input current of the power supply to be in

synchronization with the mains voltage, in order to maximize the real power drawn from

the mains.

(ii) AUTO-IRRIGATION USING MICROCONTROLLER 8051 :- The project is intended to

provide proper amount of irrigation to agricultural fields by observing the moisture content

of soil. It is implemented by using 8051 microcontroller, programmed such as to collect

input signals that measures moisture content of soil through soil moisture sensor. On

receiving the signal, the microcontroller produces an output that drives a relay and

operates the water pump. LCD is used which is interfaced with microcontroller for

displaying moisture content of soil and water pump status. Hence reduces human efforts.
