Blanket Mine (Caledonia Mining Corporation)
Gold mine utilising Sub-level open stoping mining method, employing underhand and longhole mining practices, exploiting multiple ore deposits linked by haulages over a strike length of 3 km. Hoisting 1,700 t/day of ore at average grade of 3.45g/t.
Responsibilities as Production Engineer:
Planning, leading, organising and controlling of mining operations ensuring that mining activities are executed safely and targets are achieved or surpassed at the lowest possible cost.
Capital and short term mine development, availing ore for extraction in time.
Ore extraction (Drilling, Blasting, Loading and Hauling) at the right tonnage and grade.
Ensuring that mining crews are well resourced in terms of labour, equipment and materials.
Ensuring maximum utilisation of company resources minimising wastage.

Responsibilities as Short Term Mine Planner:
Short term mine designs for weekly and monthly mine plans. III
Disseminate the appropriate information from the mine designs to all levels of the business in the agreed format allowing data to be used in other business processes especially mining production operations.

Mine scheduling for the weekly, monthly and annual business plans.
Maintain the mine scheduling database to appropriate accuracy, mining reserves, equipment assumptions, consumables and quantity assumptions. (i.e drilling meters, explosives etc.)
