I have only had three jobs in my employment history. That is working at Star Market, and Emerson College and my most Current job which is working for the UMASS Boston Police Department. I worked at Star Market for 9 years before leaving in May of 2018. In the almost 10 years working for the company I have worked at different levels. I am a reliable and punctual Sales Associate who possesses an excellent work ethic and more than 5 years in retail. Areas of expertise include cashier, cash management, management, and exceptional customer service. Along with working at Star Market, I also work Part time as a Police Dispatcher for Emerson College Police. I worked for both Star Market and Emerson College Police while attending school. During my time with the Emerson College Police Department I worked as the first point of contact for the department which was the 911 dispatcher. After working the two jobs, I was able to have the opportunity and was offered a Full time Police dispatcher II for the University of Massachusetts Boston Police Department, which is where I am currently employed. The Dispatcher II will receive, review and transmit messages over a state and federal computer network, a fixed radio broadcast system, a police records management system and telephone, all under the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission. Employees in this class operate radio transmitting and receiving equipment; maintain records and logs of messages; search files to obtain information; coordinate radio communications; and perform related work as required.

Examples of Duties:

1. Receive, review and transmit emergency and law enforcement communications from radio communications base station in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Federal Communications Commission; 2. Coordinate communications with Homeland Security Warning System, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA); 3. Provide information via communications systems to law enforcement personnel who are engaged in major law enforcement actions;

4.Respond to requests for information from other law enforcement agencies; 5.Monitors various radio frequencies to receive, evaluate and forward information; 6.0 Operates radio transmitting and receiving equipment comprising a system of fixed stations and mobile units; 7. Maintains records and logs of information such as all messages received and transmitted and individuals or authorities to contact in emergency situations via computer aided dispatch (CAD) system; 8. Access Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) records to assist Campus Police Officer’s requests;

WORK EXPERIENCE

9. Coordinates all radio communications including emergency systems, relays messages and instructions to mobile or fixed stations concerned and operates public address systems and paging devices; 10. Observes, through a closed circuit television system, traffic movements and conditions such as accidents, fires and other hazards to ensure campus safety;

As a Police Dispatcher at Emerson College Police Department my task was to receive Answer phone calls that come into the police department, including emergency situations. I would then have to dispatch officers to the scene of the emergency. Along

With answering phone calls, my other task are to start a police report when a Student walks in to report any emergency or public safety matters. I also have to

Monitor radio communication with Emerson Police officers, as well as with other police Agencies via BAPERN. I was also in charge of transmitting emergency messages to the Emerson community through a Emergency Notification System when needed. As well As though duties, I had to keep a daily department activity log. I also had to have access to a CJIS terminal at all times to help with the officers in the field.
