Dear Hiring Manager:
I am seeking a career opportunity where I can contribute to sustainability efforts while working as an Environmental Scientist/Consultant. I hope to find employment with a company whose goals include becoming more environmentally conscious, and implementing sustainable practices while interacting with upcoming innovative technology.
As an Environmental Technologies Graduate from SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), I have been trained and taught the fundamentals of Chemistry, Biology, and analytical lab processes. I am adept at technical communication methods including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, along with preparing formal written reports on complex topics. Various subjects I’ve been exposed to include Field Ecology, Remote Sensing, GIS, Environmental Law & Regulation, Environmental Risk Communication, Ecosystems and Environmental Impact Assessments, Sustainable Environmental Analysis and many more relative topics.
My ideal work environment would allow me to apply my educational background knowledge and previous work experience, while enhancing my understanding of the role contaminants play in the environment and the remediation/reclamation methods that go along with it. I have had the opportunity to participate in a number of plant monitoring and vegetation research projects for reclamation and remediation purposes. I also have experience with water sampling, monitoring, treatment and testing through standard laboratory procedures in a mine setting. My volunteer experience ranges from setting up water irrigation systems, seeding to transplanting multiple plants and eventually harvesting them, to organizing them to sell in farmer’s markets, CSA baskets or preparing for export to international markets. During my practicum week, I was involved in a woodpecker monitoring project regarding foraging holes and nesting habits with the Weaselhead/Glenmore Park Preservation Society for conservation research. I strongly believe that I can contribute meaningfully to your company due to the experience working in the lab and field, interpreting and analyzing data, and through my education and previous work/volunteering opportunities. I look forward to providing quality work while reinforcing my experience and knowledge with your company and team. Thank you for your time and hope to hear back from you soon. Regards,
Oscar Omidian
