I am currently employed with the Federal government. My main job duties here is to obtain blood and urine samples from outpatients and to also assist with sample processing. I also work closely with nursing staff and providers answering questions and assist with trouble shooting lab orders.

Clinical Laboratory Technician- Samaritan Health/Main street clinic
I held the position of Lab technician for a small clinic in Lebanon Oregon. My position was to obtain blood and urine samples, sample processing and was in charge of ordering supplies for all of the clinic. I updated “standard policies and procedures” for “rapid Point of care testing”. I was in charge of keeping the “CLIA “certification and also did quarterly proficiency testing. I obtained throat swabs and nasal pharyngeal swabs. I ran the rapid testing procedures, Rapid strept throat screens, rapid influenza (nasal pharyngeal swab for strains A&B), urinalysis, HCG, “HEMOCUE” rapid test and INR’s and also performed blood occult testing (card). I also had students from the local college for phlebotomy students. I taught them good technique and professionalism.

Laboratory Assistant II- Oregon State Hospital- September 2011-April 2016
My main position was obtaining blood samples from institutionalized patients and specimen processing. I ran Point of care testing for urinalysis, A1C’s and fecal blood occult I obtained nasal pharyngeal swabs for Influenza and Noro virus. I transported those samples to the nearest public health department.

Certified Hemodialysis Technician-Samaritan Health 2000-2011
I was a hemodialysis technician. I accessed fistulas and catheters for the treatment of dialysis. I was a lead and trained new employees. I was involved with “Fistula First” campaign. I took blood pressures every 30 minutes and assisted the RN with patient care.

Phlebotomist/Lab assistant- Samaritan Health Services- January 1991-September 2000
I was a phlebotomist and was also a specimen processor. I am experienced in obtaining blood from all ages of patients. I was utilized in the outpatient setting and Emergency department, and also inpatients. I was utilized in all departments, I ran urinalysis, HCG (both urine and serum) mononucleosis sedimentation rates, rapid strept screens, and assisted in microbiology (inoculating plates). I also trained new employees.
Experience
Eye enucleator- LIONS Eye Bank- 2006-2008
I was an on call enucleator for the LIONS eye bank of Oregon. I obtained eye tissue for both research and transplantation. I would assess the deceased person and studied the chart for health history. I would inspect the body for anomaly’s, including surgical scars, moles and rectal tearing. I also obtained a blood sample from (typically) the femoral artery for the laboratory for communicable diseases. I sealed the eye socket closed and cleaned the face off of blood for patients to the mortuary. I covered most of the Mid Willamette Valley here in Oregon.
