RISK MANAGEMENT

At the highschool level students demonstrated

passive reconnaissance by gaining information for object oriented programs in java while using the java

development kit.

At Frostburg State University, captive portals

were used for students to provide their credentials to gain Wi-Fi access throughout campus.

ICMP(Internet Control Message Protocol)

helped manage systems with Allied Telecom Group by demonstrating performance logs that will draw alarms if network equipment disconnects.

NETWORK SECURITY & TECHNOLOGIES

In highschool PAP (Password Authentication

Protocol) was used to verify students attendance in class by sending out a passphrase or passcode.

Application whitelisting allows users access to

certain websites while application blacklisting blocks access to users. This allowed students to research useful information to help interpret labs and projects.

At Allied Telecom Group VPN’s (Virtual Private

Network) were used to allow authorized individuals access to certain resources within the network of the company. Access were related to the separation of duties for each employee.

POLICIES AND PROTOCOLS

HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) was used

in web development one to communicate web pages to web browsers. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) was the coding language that displayed the web page content. In college the Clean Desk Policy was applied

and was used to prevent data theft. Future vulnerabilities such as wiretapping and vishing can be eliminated if the employee or student is as organized as possible to securely organize the work area for future use.

The separation of duties allowed certain

customer request to be ticketed to the Network Operation center. If a customer had a billing inquiry, they would then be sent to the client care team to carefully give the appropriate judgements to prevent fraud, therefore if concerns need to be escalated a supervisor would be made aware.
