Senior Network Engineer
Supported EIGRP and BGP routing protocols.
Supported Cisco ASA firewalls.
Documented the existing corporate WAN connectivity to allow for more efficient troubleshooting of link outages. This also allowed management to have an accurate picture of the effects of outages on routing.
Documented Call center network connectivity, allowing for faster response times for moves, adds, and changes.
Updated and administered MRTG SNMP Collection system. Streamlined the configuration to maximize system performance.
Added and administered Solarwinds Network Management system that automated the monitoring of the network and centralized the alerting of outages.
Added and administered Solarwinds Configuration Management that automated the backup of device configuration and also allowed for auditing the configurations.
Troubleshot workstation connectivity issues improving the performance and reliability.
Worked with long haul providers and local carriers troubleshooting outages to isolate the section of the link having difficulties.
Using both workstation capture software and capture appliances, performed packet analysis to isolate application configuration and communication errors
Re-designed the corporate WAN Quality of Service to ensure that the voice traffic received the highest priority while still maintaining bandwidth availability for business critical applications.
Re-designed the corporate EIGRP network, splitting the network into three distinct Autonomous Systems. This configuration limited the effects on the routing during outages.
While integrating an acquired companies network into the KGB corporate network, upgraded the unsupportable and unreliable 10Base5 shared network to a Cisco switched network. Also integrated the current OSPF network into the KGB EIGRP network.
Performed a network audit for an acquired call center. Documented the existing network while also removing unauthorized hubs from the switched network
Upgraded call center core switches to replace end of life devices and to incorporate new technologies. These upgrades allowed for the use of redundant port channels to increase bandwidth to distribution switches and to add another layer of redundancy.
Upgraded Distribution and Access switches to stackable switches which decreased the number of managed devices, but also limited the effects of a single switch outage.
Key Achievement: Lead the migration from a closing data center to a new data center. This required coordination of the re-termination of multiple DS3 circuits and the migration of server farm data.
