Engineering Intern: Murowa Diamonds Private Limited (January 2019 – August 2019)
During this tenure l worked in the Heavy Mobile Equipment Workshop and Plant Engineering Departments. The HME Workshop department was responsible for the maintenance of the dump trucks which carried the mined ore from the pits to the processing plant. Other heavy vehicles that were used for carrying out the complimentary services were also a responsibility of the HME Workshop.
The Plant Engineering Department was responsible for servicing the critical equipment as well as any other equipment found in the plant so that they function as effectively as possible.
Responsibilities:
Heavy Mobile Equipment Workshop
Planning daily workshop activities.
Preparation and implementation of planned maintenance schedules.
Ensuring requisite levels of equipment availability.
Ensuring availability of spare parts.
Implementation of standard operational procedures.
Plant Engineering
Planning for all maintenance work.
Maintenance data collection and information gathering for effective planning.
Preparing daily operational and maintenance reports.
Verifying that all materials, information, tools and labour are available prior to scheduling.
Issuing scheduled work orders to supervisors.
Identifying areas of improvement and modification within the plant.
Inventory management.
Statutory maintenance.
Achievements
Under the supervision of the Electrical Engineer, I was part of the engineering team that successfully converted the Mobile Crushing Plant from a diesel powered to an electrically powered system. This improved the plant availability from a monthly average of 57% to 78%.
