I have had the pleasure of working with Dawn Maiorano for the last 14 months at CTCA. Dawn has brought a dimension to our team that never existed in my prior 14 years with CTCA. She has integrated herself with the clinical team perfectly. She has been able to communicate with physicians, nursing and most importantly families with honesty, integrity, and compassion. She is patient centric and always has the patient’s best interests at the forefront of her work. Her collaborative work style is admirable and engaging. She has been invaluable in building relationships and interfacing with DME providers, patients, families, and clinical teams. For example, on multiple occasions she worked diligently arrange medical flights for patients allowing patients to return home with dignity which was something that infrequently was attempted by others in her role. She has been monumental in reducing readmissions and has always made sure what was good for the patient was good for the institution and care team. Dawn instituted Parachute electronic DME ordering system which has been a game changer for me personally as well as our inpatient staff and outpatient clinic/respiratory staff, making the process efficient and painless for all involved to provide patients what they need.

Her administrative knowledge coupled with her clinical acumen drove her to deliver novel therapies for patients and providers as she has introduced the Astral NIV for non-compliant CPAP patients and patients with Chronic Respiratory Failure aimed at reducing readmissions. I have personally worked with her and accredit her for our high success rate of appeals from denials being overturned leading to increased revenue for our health system. She has robust and accurate knowledge and experience with clinically appropriate Clinical Documentation Integrity, Investigation as well as auditing and coding for inpatient admissions. Prior to her arrival there was great descent and discord amongst the staff about Observation placement versus Inpatient admission. Dawn has been able to correct and educate and support providers with ease and competency. Dawn is an excellent Liaison with insurance and DME vendors and has established an unprecedented rapport with our clinical team and most importantly our patients. She goes above and beyond to serve patients and her work ethic, dedication and commitment is ever present. She will be a true asset to any program or institution.
