RESEARCH WORK

Solar Disinfection of Biomedical Waste, Lovely Professional University Aug2019-May2020

Disinfection of Biomedical Waste using Compound Parabolic Collector: A compound parabolic collector was designed and fabricated to collect the direct and diffused solar radiations and concentrate on a linear portion of the setup. Biomedical wastes which were collected from a number of biomedical waste generating sources were placed on this linear portion of the setup. The collective direct and diffused radiations helped in achieving temperatures which were enough to deactivate harmful bacteria which made the biomedical waste infectious. This setup helped in economical function of healthcare facilities as this setup replaced the conventional system of disinfecting biomedical waste which was dependent on electricity for its functioning. Also being a clean energy system, it was no more dependent on depleting fossil fuels generating electricity. PROJECT

Thermoacoustic Refrigerator, Pillai’s college of Engineering Jun2017-May2018

Design of Stack for TAR: The Thermoacoustic refrigerator works on the principle of conversion of sound energy to produce cooling effect. The stack previously available consisted of a very complex design and hence the task taken up by the team was to reduce the complexity of the stack at a lower cost. The team members achieved this by replacing the old parallel stack plates by designing and selecting small cross-sectional mylar tubes. These mylar tubes are available at cheaper rates in the market and don’t require any kind of machining process before its application in the system. POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY
