SENIOR EHSS MANAGER (2019 – 2020)

Developed, implemented, and provided on-going support of health and safety plans, policies, procedures, and compliance programs. Responsible for EPA, SARA, TCEQ, and TIER II reporting; all Worker’s Compensation claims; and oversight of all incident and accident investigations. Served as a corporate EHSS single point of contact (SPOC). Designated to handle COVID-19 responsibilities for the EHSS team. Used Enablon and EHS Exchange software.

Conducted trend analysis, wrote safety policies and programs, performed background investigations, and functioned as the risk manager for insurance loss and subrogation of claims. Provided appropriate regulatory, technology, and behavioral leadership, counsel, and direction for comprehensive management of safety, health, emergency response, and security through a team concept. Assisted business unit leaders with the overall compliance of OSHA/PSM/RMP policies.

Implemented better tracking of injuries, their causes, and finding solutions to eliminate or mitigate the hazards. Reduced injuries from 5 - 7 per month to zero in three months. At an average cost of $5,000 per injury, substantial savings were realized.

Provided EHSS guidance for both Plant and Logistics teams in a 15-state area. Designed, maintained, and improved quality standards, maintaining compliance with DOT regulations, improving the safety culture, and maintaining compliance to local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Managed risk for insurance claims, Affirmative Action, EEOC, harassment, OSHA, DOT, EPA, MPCA, and workers’ compensation claims. Spearheaded the training of supervisors and managers in DOT Reasonable Suspicion classes and DOT rules and regulations. Saw a significant drop in employees testing positive for drugs and alcohol while boosting CVA scores. Also saw that D.A.R.T. and T.R.I.R. rates dropped by 75% due to decreasing injuries.
