WORK EXPERIENCE
July 2019 – present: KeNHA trainee employed by the office of the resident engineer for the construction of dual carriageway link road from the Lamu port to the Lamu – Garsen road (A7). My duties include:
Coordination of quality control checks and tests such as Marshall’s test, bitumen extraction to determine bitumen content, field density tests, CBR tests, concrete strength tests etc.
Mix design tests to obtain proper grading of materials and optimum bitumen content for DBM.
Geometric design of different sections of the carriageway.
Visual inspection of works done such as subbase and base improvement with cement, prime coat application, tack coat application and surfacing works.
Carried out design review of the design undertaken by the KeNHA team.
Drawing and detailing of road alignment and vertical profile using Civil 3D.
Preparation of monthly progress reports and the design review report.
Participation in site inspection and site meetings.
Preparation of minutes for site meetings.
September 2018 – October 2018: Worked as a teaching assistant at Royal Brains School. My duties were to fill in for the teacher when she was unavailable, assist students to process and understand new subject matter, keep order during mealtimes and short breaks, provide first aid to injured students etc. February 2017- April 2017: Interned at Atkins global as a Civil Engineering student after my 4th year studies. Worked under the supervision of professional engineers in the detailed design of structural elements in proposed I&M bank headquarters in Kigali, Rwanda.

Performed site inspections for warehouses at Kakuzi, the proposed new Australian High commission, Two Rivers mall etc.
Prepared site investigation reports on the Kakuzi warehouse investigations.
