To the Hiring Manager,
A quote often attributed to Bill Gates is “I always choose a lazy person to do a hard job, because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it.” As you and I know, there are no shortcuts when it comes to writing or analyzing - either we perfectly encapsulate abstract ideas into words or we don’t. I’ve spent countless hours racking my brain for the perfect word or phrase that captures what I’m attempting to convey, and while the task of writing seems arduous and tedious to many, I can only describe it as a welcome challenge every time. To write is not only to communicate, but to set something in motion - a blossoming friendship, a project, a lesson, a movement. My love of writing is deep-rooted and has been refined for over the past decade; in fact, the primary reason for selecting my major was that it combined my love of writing and research, and I hope to be able to delve into this point deeper with you.
As for who I am as a member of your team, I’ll provide a brief rundown. I’m the person that always took the lead in group projects, and delivering an excellent end result is always more important than only doing my fair share. The idea of being late or missing a deadline stresses me out, so punctuality is fundamentally important. “Adequate” and “satisfactory” are synonymous with
“not good enough” as I revel in pushing the definition of my personal best, and as a result I gravitate towards positions where “growth” is a keyword. I’m a sharp and quick learner that is always looking for challenges to expand my skill set.
In terms of recreation, I’m an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, a lover of psychological thrillers and guilty pleasures on Netflix, deeply into Skyrim and impatiently waiting for GTA VI. I’m making headway into cooking Southeast Asian cuisine, constantly looking for new ways to spoil my cats, getting into Toastmasters to brush up on my public speaking skills (I used to compete), and occasionally doing freelance web design with my 10+ years of Adobe and HTML/CSS experience on the side.
I hope this cover letter finds you well, and that I have the opportunity to more personally demonstrate my enthusiasm to join you and your team in writing high quality content!
