CAREER AND EXPERIENCE

2012 - Worked with equity bank as the best student in KCSE 2011 in western province after scoring an A of 84 points and average points of 86.41 ( With my name in printed media ). The experience was one of its kind

2018 : Worked on a Road construction project of stabilization of Red soils for subgrade road construction in Nairobi in conjunction with university of Nairobi and supervision of Eng Osano. The project involved improving the atterberg limit properties of red soils such as liquid limit, plastic limit and shrinkage index by conducting detail laboratory research. Retrospectively the project involved improving the load bearing capacity of red soils, improving the optimum moisture content of red soils, improving the maximum dry density ( MDD ) of red soils by compacting it upto 95% procto compaction test and hence determining the CBR ( California Bearing Ratio ) of Red soils before and after stabilising with red Soils. The amount of cement to be added per kilometer was comprehensively determined.

2018-2019 : Worked with covec construction company in designing of free and fixed abutment along Kabete area for carriage way of 12m and spanning over a distance of 34m. The project involved Wall design of abutment, checking stability of proposed abutment against sliding and overturning, performing both serviceability and ultimate limit state checks with,providing specification.

2019 : Worked on designing of bridge deck slabs, loading calculations from HA, Knife Edge Load and HB Loadings, self- dead weight loading, performing serviceability limit check for bridge decks including creeping, long term creeping and cracking control and checking the adequacy of reinforcement provided for midspan bending as well as shear serviceability checks .

2019 -2020 Worked on an engineering project for waste water sanitary gravity sewer system. I was tasked with researching on maximum hydraulic potential difference that should be adopted whilst designing a sanitary sewer system to avoid corrosion of proposed design sewer pipeline. The project a splendid success. Retrospectively, I was tasked with determining minimum hydraulic potential difference graditent that will continously supply waste water without clogging factoring unforeseeable and uncertainties which are inherent during design of sewerage pipeline system.

2020 Worked with imperial contractors in designing of raft foundation for loose clay soils of low bearing to support a 5 storey building. The process involved providing minimum foundation thickness to support the service loads from building columns as well as checking critical punching shear at column foundation footing and providing necessary foundation drawings, sketches and specifications.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES FROM PAST EXPERIENCE

Performing preliminary structural assessment and analysis and hence retrospectively coming up with proper structural load modelling.

Using engineering principles, codes such as BS and euro code, I design the structure for serviceability limit requirements ( cracking, shrinking, creeping, deflection and vibration ) as well as ultimate limit state ( with appropriate load factors to check for bending and shear that structure will be subjected to ) to ensure that structure meets required global structural integrity requirements and soundness

From the structural analysis, I was tasked with proposing adequate steel reinforcements that meets required structural integrity from my assessment

Producing Bar bending scheduled which is a basis of bills of quantities in engineering works

Producing effective project bills of quantities

Producing necessary structural drawings, detailing, sketches and specifications

Site inspection and Providing daily site report of work progress.
