WORK OF EXPERIENCE
Selected Competence: Testing of Heavy Duty, Off-Highway Hydraulic Components
(Transmissions, Torque Converters, Hydraulic Pumps, Hydraulic Motors, Hydraulic Cylinders), with Taylor Dynamometer Hydraulic Test Center (HTC). Contamination Control Strategies, daily inspection and maintenance on Genset, Striping of Heavy-duty Caterpillar Machines units, e.g. Torque convertors, Transmissions, Transfer gears, Pumps, Hydraulic systems, Differential and Final drives. Inspection for wear and damages of parts and use the service information system (SIS) to prepare a part list for all damage parts to be replaced during rebuilding of the component, writing service report after work done. Selected Skills: Competent in mechanical operations within a replicated work environment. Modules include:
Health and safety – Manual handling, Permit to work Procedures, Fire safety, COSHH, PPE, Safety signs and signage, Risk assessment, HASAWA, Working at heights, PUWER, etc.
Maintenance and repair of mechanical assemblies - name and function of parts, disassembling and assembling, troubleshooting/fault finding and repair of different types of Pumps, Transmission, Differential Units, Hydraulic Cylinders, Final Drives, Valves and other mechanical assemblies. Operating miscellaneous equipment like Forklift and overhead cranes.
Measurement– the use of Vernier calipers, height gauges, micrometres and other measuring instruments; basic hand tools –safe and correct use of threading tools, drills, hacksaws, files, etc.
