Prior I supported the Kusile Power Station Execution Team rendering Project Support to the client. I also managed the Civil Engineering Designer Certification of Completion for the NMPP facility in Durban. Prior I managed Civil Engineering Construction activities and quality for a 95MW Solar Plant in De Aar on an EPC basis (Roads Structures and Earth works).

Civil Construction Site / Project Manager on Solar Project The following Civil Engineering duties includes but not limited to:

Handle day-to-day interface with contractor, providing a focus on safety, quality, cost and schedule

Daily reporting of activities and progress to the Site Construction Manager

Ensure that project team is well informed, motivated and working effectively and efficiently

Assist in the management of either a single, large project or several medium/small projects, by the Operations Manager

Responsible to the Project Manager for the successful execution of assigned work

Liaise closely with the various Project Engineers for whom the group is doing work. This will enable the latest developments, which may affect the schedule to be ascertained. Advise them of problem areas

Make sure that all the information needed by engineers to perform their work is available before they need it so that work progresses at a smooth and steady pace, on time and on target

Ensure that work done in the discipline is accurate and correct

Ensure that any necessary reference material is readily available to engineers whether it is a National or Client Standard, Procedure or recognized Code of Practice. Also, ensure that the most used vendor literature is available

Allocate work packages to suitable engineers, monitor progress against the schedule, resolve queries and generally expedite the progress of the design

EPC Procurement

2008 - 2014 EPC Procurement Manager

Review of requisitions received from Project managers;

Determine Suppliers / Subcontractor quotation / bid list (in conjunction with Regional Procurement Manager);

Drawing up of Request for Quotation using the relevant / correct form of quotation;

Evaluation of quotations / bids using the bid analysis form and with relevant technical input from Project Manager /

Project Engineer;

Negotiate with suppliers / subcontractors on price and delivery (purchasing profit of at least 5% to be achieved);

Recommendation to procure;

Placing of orders using the relevant form of order / subcontract within one day of receipt of the Purchase Requisition and with a high level of accuracy;

Expediting of materials ensuring that the Project Managers are informed if any promised delivery dates cannot be met; and

Expediting of required deliverables in terms of bonds and insurances;

Ensuring that material inwards receipts and subcontractor payment certificates are processed timeously.

Pay particular attention to payment terms – where possible 60-day accounts should be obtained from Vendors.

Assist with the development of project procurement plans in conjunction with Project Managers as soon as

possible after project kick off meetings. Ensure that they are kept up to date.

Maintain the vendor Database in accordance with the company works instructions.

Assist the Regional Procurement Manager in introducing a yearly volume discount structure with suppliers.
