PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1) 4th December, 2017 to Date: Electrical Operations and Maintenance Inspector at Sinoma Mpande Limestone Limited. I am based at the main plant which comprises of a Cement plant, Aggregate and Concrete Mixing plant and a Brick Factory.

Duties and Responsibilities

• As a team leader ensuring safety requirements are achieved, fill out risk assessment forms, organise and monitor the works in progress.

• Troubleshooting power, control and protection circuits for equipment such as belt conveyor motors, funs, crushers, mills, weigh feeders, lighting circuits etc.

• Installation and wiring of electrical machines in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

• Carrying out calibrations to weighing devices and equipment such as rotary cement packing machine, weigh feeders, belt weigher etc.

• Responding to all electrical faults on shift to achieve continuity production. Common faults are Motor over heating (due to qverloadind or bearings lubrication failure, cooling system failure or other mechanical faults), Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs) and thermal couple faults. Proximity and speed sensors failures. Photoelectric switches faults. flow and level meter faults. PLC (ABB and Siemens) communication failure. Cement auto loading machines faults, Coal and Limestone stacker and reclaimer machines malfunctions, lighting systems faults etc.

• Currying out routine and non-routine inspections to all electrical equipment in the plant e.g. Transformers, High/Medium/Low voltage motors, Belt /Chain / Pan conveyors control and protection devices, Air compressors, Hydraulic and Lubrication stations, Water pump stations, Bucket Elevators, Dust collector fans, Bag filters, Electrical rooms/Substations, Air conditioning system etc.

• Recording all necessary equipment readings such as incoming voltages and currents, power factor, temperature, pressure, speed, frequency and cleanness of equipment.

• Carrying out preventive and routine maintenance in accordance with the maintenance schedule. i. This involves the changing of carbon brushes of DC motors and other AC main drive motors with brushes, change of air filters, tightening bolts and nuts, cleaning and blowing dust from electrical cabinets and efficient housekeeping of electrical rooms/substations etc. CURRICULUM VITAE Timothy Kaluba

• Carrying out corrective and non-routine maintenance. i. Repair faulty electrical equipment/devices or replace if necessary.

• Carrying out switchings by following switching procedures during maintenance (applying LOTO) and issuing documents that are involved as an authorised person, appointed by writing.

• As a shift officer, responsible for load balancing, the current load in reference to the main transformer maximum rated load.

(ZESCO). I was attached to Distribution and Customer Services Directorate under Copperbelt Division. Duties and Responsibilities under Operations Department

• Application of General Safety Rules in every day work.

• Observing Switching Operations

i. Following Switching Procedur

ii. Isolations of Equipment to be worked on and apply a caution notice (rendering circuit inoperative).

• Responding to every day faults such as replacing burnt bushings on transformers, replacing burnt channels and blown fuses in feeder pillars, repairing and replacing faulty Ring Main Units (RMUs), replacing faulty prepaid meters for ZESCO customers etc.

• Inducted on Cable faults and also participated in making sound High Tension and Medium Voltage Cable Joints to vandalised cables and in other instances requiring cable joining to both underground and overhead cables.

ll. Duties and Responsibilities under ZESCO Copperbelt Division Region Control Centre.

• Monitoring Electrical Networks on micro SCADA system

• Identifying faults in its exact High Tension line in the system network and Open or Close the responsible high voltage Circuit Breaker remotely on SCADA display window UNDER an instruction and record the event in the Switching Instruction log book including date and time.

• Issuing Documents (i.e. the Permit to work, the Sanction for Test, and the Limitation of Access) correct persons and according to a kind of job to be done on the ZESCO system within Kitwe.

• Locating exact geographical location of ZESCO Substations, Transformers, points of isolations of High Tension lines etc. using OPERA WORKING STATION SYSTEM software. lll. Duties and Responsibilities under Maintenance Department

• Transformer Maintenance (step down transformers) ground Mounted Transformers (GMT) and Pole Mounted Transformers (PMT) maintenance.

• Inspecting and replacing the quantity and colour of silica gel of transformer and replacing if required.

• Checking the dielectric strength and the level of the oil the transformer is using.

• Reinforcing Insulation to cables from the transformer and cleaning the terminals contaminated with oxide fume.

• Ensuring an effective proper cooling system for the transformer.

• Installing an earth mat to transformers for Earth resistance.

• Ensuring a proper working environment for a Buchholz relay.

• Construction of overhead lines for medium and high voltages i. Over a residential area with the consideration of the sag, span, clearance and space. ii. Across the road with the consideration of the sag, span, clearance and space.

• Housekeeping in and outside ZESCO substations and bush clearing i. Removing dust from high voltage machines such as Transformers in a substation. ii. Sweeping and cleaning the floor inside and outside the substation. lv. Duties and Responsibilities under New Installations Department.

• Physical Inspections and Testing of New wiring installations of Buildings.

• Measuring earth resistance which should be in a range of below 10 ohms for residential building and below 50 ohms for a transformer.
