Duties performed as a SHE Advisor

1.SYSTEMS

a)Advising and assisting line management in establishing and implementing SHE systems that are in line with legal, HVE and NOSA requirements and best practice systems such as ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 ( ISO 45001)

b)Assisting and coordinating the carrying out of risk assessments with the view of ensuring that appropriate risk mitigation measures are established.

c)Assisting and coordinating development of Safe Work Procedures, Environmental Procedures and Work Instructions with the view of ensuring that all the inherent hazards associated with activities are captured and addressed.

d)Advising and updating line and middle management on SHE performance with the view of ensuring compliance with set SHE objectives and targets.

e)Providing SHE technical support to line with the view of ensuring that SHE issues are understood and implemented.

2.MONITORING AND EVALUATION

a)Carrying out SHE inspections and audits with the view of assessing the effectiveness of the SHE system.

b)Providing technical advice to audit teams and participates in quarterly internal SHE audits with the view of ensuring that audits are done as dictated by the audit protocol.

c)Conducting legal audits with the view of ensuring compliance.

d)Reviewing operational SHE systems with the view of ensuring continuous improvement

3.TRAINING

a)Inducting all new personnel, contractors and visitors on the Company’s SHE management system.

b)Identifying operational SHE training needs with the view of ensuring that relevant training is offered.

c)Following up on-the-job training with the view of ensuring compliance.

4.RISK MANAGEMENT

a)Assisting line management in carrying out scope and designs reviews with the view of ensuring that SHE issues are considered at that early stage.

b)Investigating, coordinating accident investigations and follow up on remedial action plans with the view of preventing recurrence.

c)Ensuring protection of employees from physical, biological and chemical stressors through workplace audits and PPE recommendations

d)Monitoring compliance with SHE requirements on all new and/or modified equipment with view of ensuring the SHE integrity of such equipment.

e)Monitoring SHE management system through raising and closing of non-conformance reports, monitoring of environmental improvements projects, investigation of environmental incidents
