Professional Experience
Site Visitor- May 2020- present. South University gave me the wonderful opportunity to apply leadership skills and become a site visitor for future nurse practitioners that were enrolled in the family practice program. This is an amazing opportunity to aid in the growth of this great profession and allow me to interact with students on a greater level. This university utilizes CORE ELMS for their platform.
Preceptorship- January 1, 2018 to current. I have been given the amazing opportunity to oversee future colleagues while working as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Phoebe Primary Care in Albany, Georgia. We are able to go over various disease processes, diagnoses, treatments, and prevention plans for these patients. These illnesses can include hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, anemia, reflux disease, congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and osteoporosis/osteopenia. Case studies are given to students to help facilitate learning throughout the clinical site.
Phoebe Primary Care- December 5,2016 to current. I was able to start working at this facility towards the end of the year in 2016. I have had the opportunity to manage clients with various illness and co-morbidities including hypertension, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus type 1, diabetes mellitus type 2, chronic kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and peripheral vascular disease/arterial disease. I have also had the opportunity to manage acute illnesses such as sprains, strains, sinusitis, back pain, bronchitis, CAP, urinary tract infections, bacterial vaginosis, and STI’s such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomonas. We are able to provide Medicare wellness exams at this clinic. We are also able to provide pneumonia, influenza, TDAP, and HPV vaccinations to the appropriate patient.
Americus Urgent Care- May 5,2016- January 01, 2017. I began working at Americus Urgent Care, which is associated with Southwest Georgia Health Care, as a Nurse Practitioner with two other nurse practitioners. I have been able to practice primary care to various patient populations with different economic statuses. We provide primary care to various populations including adult, pediatric, and geriatrics. We are also able to provide care in women’s health. We also provider urgent care services such as simple lacerations, simple cold/flu, staple/suture removals, sprains/strains, back pain, fevers, vomiting/diarrhea, etc.
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital- May 5, 2015 to May 31, 2016- I began working in Surgicare at this time. I provided care to patients prior to the beginning of surgery and recover patients after surgery. I also participate in the pre-admitting phase or process which is done before the day of surgery for the patient.
St Francis Hospital (ER)- September 2014 to July 2015. After working on the cardiac floor for more than 2 years, I began working in the emergency room full time. In the emergency room, I provide care to patients in emergent and non-emergent situations with various health care providers. I provide initial care and transfer of care to the appropriate personnel for critical care patients such as sepsis, acute coronary syndrome, gastrointestinal bleeding, acute congestive heart failure, stroke, pulmonary embolism, DKA, and pneumonia. I also provided care to patients who present to the ER with lacerations, strains/sprains, dislocations, fractures, “common cold,” viral illnesses, and asthma exacerbations.
Terrell County Health Department- March 2014 to September 2014. I provided care as a public health registered nurse to various patients within different programs. I was involved in various programs such as Immunizations, Tuberculosis, HIV, Women’s health and the Women, Infants, and Children Program.
Immunizations- I provided care to pediatric and adult patients by administering the correct vaccinations at the appropriate time. I also provided patients up to date immunization records through the utilization of GRITS.
Tuberculosis- I administered tuberculin skin test to the appropriate patients and interpreted the results of the test within the appropriate amount of time. I also administered PPD test to the extended care facility within the county.
HIV- Provided counseling to patients prior to diagnosing to patient with this illness and also provided care for patients after being diagnosed with HIV. Proficient in the tests such as Oraquick utilized in diagnosing HIV.
Women’s health- Provided service to women across the lifespan. I was required to perform complete head to toe assessments on each patient. I also counseled patients on the various forms of birth control which included the benefits, disadvantages, efficacy, and adverse effects of each type/form of birth control. I was also able to diagnose and treat the patient with the appropriate plan of care.
Women’s, Infants, and Children Program- I provided care to women, infants, and children every day. This included providing prenatal care to women with positive initial pregnancy test through counseling. I also performed counseling for infants and children by monitoring the development of the patient. This was done by obtaining weight, height, and various questions to assess the nutritional adequacy of the patient. I also was able to perform health checks including vision, hearing, and lead screenings at the health department and head start facility within the county.
St Francis Hospital (Telemetry)- February 2012 to September 2014. I provided care to acutely ill patients with various diseases or illnesses. This included patients with multiple co-morbidities such as Diabetes Mellitus, Pneumonia, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Hypertension, and Dyslipidemia. I also cared for patients pre-and post-insertion of AICD’s, pacemakers, pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, angioplasty with and without intervention, and acute myocardial infarction. I was able to analyze and interpret various EKG rhythms.

Hypertension/CHF- Wrote and presented at St Francis Hospital regarding hypertension including the risk factors, symptoms, and treatment.
Cardiovascular Disease- Created and presented at a local church in Albany, Georgia including management and prevention of hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and congestive heart failure.
