I am writing to apply for the full time position of Graphic Designer at The University of Texas at Austin Development Office. I describe myself as a very strong and confident designer who is adept in technology and a very quick learner when it comes to this sort of work. My eye for design and willingness to learn will be extremely beneficial to your company. I consider myself competent in all areas of design. Although I have a strong affinity in incorporating expressive type and lettering to my work; however, I am up to the task for creating all kinds of assets—digital or print. Your online application states that it is looking for a designer who can work on a large range of projects all while “maintaining the UT brand community and visual appearance.” My work experience includes student worker for the Office of Information Technology at St. Edward’s University, specifically in their Digital Media Center where the role demanded the creation of a multitude of print and digital graphics that had to pertain to the university’s brand standard. I would create digital materials and prints that would be displayed around campus such as graphics, t-shirt designs, social media, etc. In addition, I would aid and teach students and faculty about different design and office softwares. Prior to working at St. Edward’s University, I worked at Copy-rite Digital Print & Design where I did a variety of jobs including but not limited to designing documents ranging from business cards, signange, large scale banners, advertisments along with other business deliverables. This role allowed me to work in a more personal/up-front space where I gained experience in the printing process amongst other things. I would also like to add that I was part of an internship team dedicated to creating and utilizing a brand identity for St. Edward’s University’s Department of Visual Studies. This experience was important in defining how to work with and expand an existing brand. Overall, I will say that my work experience outside of my education is limited, but the experiences I have gained, my creative skills, and passion for design more than make up for it and will be a great asset to your company.
