26 years (April 1957 to October 1983) in MICO in various capacities, both in Bangalore and Nashik (1969 – 1974), took retirement while holding the position of Materials Manager, in 1983
During my stay in MICO held positions such as Sports Secretary, Captain of Cricket Team, and Vice-President of MICO Fine Arts. Managing Director (1984-2005), Sterling varnishes (Bangalore) P Ltd., a wholly family owned Company. Sold the Company in July 2005. Others Hon. Secretary, National College Hostel Association 1953-54 and organized several programs.
Past Faculty, Indian Institute of Materials Management, Bangalore for 6 months. Past President (1986-87), Rotary Club of Bangalore Southwest. Alumni Member, Rotary International Foundation. Held various positions in the R.I. District 3190 from July 1987 till December 1997.

During College and after leaving college played for Udaya Cricketers, Bangalore, Channapatna Cricket Club, Mangalvarpet Cricket Club (as captain). Later while working in MICO, played for the Mico Sports Club in their Cricket Team, also as their Captain for several matches; Later I was appointed Sports Secretary by the Management. I was also nominated as Vice-President, MICO Fine Arts for two years. .While being a member of Rotary Bangalore Southwest, led as captain of the Cricket Team for 2 years.
Was actively playing Shuttle cock and won first prize in Doubles tournament in the year 1962. I can play Table Tennis and Billiards/Snooker fairly well Visits Abroad Underwent advance training in Materials Management and Sales Planning for 2 months at Robert Bosch, Bamberg, West Germany in 1972 while working in MICO Nashik;
Denmark in April-May 1991 as Team Leader of 5-member GSE Team from Rotary District. 3190 to Rotary District 1460 for 5 weeks and addressed several local clubs and the District Conference.
Sydney, Australia for 4 months from 05-11-2005 to 05-03-2006 & for 6 months from 22-04-2008 to 18-10-2008 under tourist visa and stayed with son. Details of Family Daughter – Brinda, married to Dr. N.S. Shreesha, Anesthetist. . They have two daughters. Eldest daughter is a Speech and Hearing Therapist having completed M.Sc., in that subject. She is now working in California, U.S. Second daughter has finished M.Sc., in Clinical Psychology and M.Sc., in Education. She is now working as a Counselor in Art Of Living for drug addicted people. Son – Mukund S.Viswanath, married to Minoti Hindupur. Both are working as Freelance Architects in Sydney, Australia having completed M.Arch in University of NSW. They have two daughters, both studying in Sydney, Australia. My father was Founder Chairman of Bangalore Kidney Foundation and was very active in its day-to-day operations till his death in 1991. He started it with the help of few friends in 1978 at a time when there was no facility of dialysis in whole of Bangalore and Karnataka
1. During my stay in Nashik from August 1969 to September 1974, I was given independent responsibility to organize commercial departments, viz., Purchase, Sales, Stores (all types), Direct Materials planning and production order scheduling, In-direct materials planning and procurement, Central Excise Cell, recruitment of daily labour, liaison with Government departments, etc. 2. At MICO Bangalore, prior to retirement end October 1983, I held the post of Materials Manager and was responsible for Direct Materials planning and procurement, issuing production orders, Direct Material Stores, Central Excise cell for Direct Materials. 3. In November 1983 took over Sterling Varnishes as Managing Partner and revived the sick company from annual turnover of Rs. 1.5 lakhs to Rs. 30 lakhs and converted into a Private Limited Company and held the position of Managing Director. During my stint in this Company, studied books on Insulating Varnishes and Paints manufacture, testing, etc., and presented a paper on Insulating Varnishes at a Seminar held in Bombay in 1987 that was attended by leading Insulating Varnish Manufacturers in India. Organized production, laboratory, Research and Development of New products, inspection, packing, stores, sales, planning and procurement, etc., based on past experience in MICO. Sold the Company in July 2005. I was able to establish many leading industries as our customers, viz., ITI, BEML, MEI,GKW, CRI Pumps, OFMK (Ordnance Factory, Medak), NGEF, besides a number of Small Scale Industries in Bangalore, Mysore, Coimbatore and Chennai
4. I have sufficient working experience with Computers – Word Processing, Spread Sheet, MS Presentation, DTP work, Internet. I work on my Desktop PC for about 3-4 hours daily on surfing, writing letters, downloading important information and organizing the same in different folders, etc. I also use my PC for my Photo and Video albums and create my own Audio and Video DVDs. I can also create Work Book in Excel for repetitive jobs like pay roll. My present typing speed is 120 wpm. Being fluent in Kannada Typing (60 words/minute), have taken up translation work from English to Kannada for our local magazine.
5. Worked as a consultant to an Insulating Varnish and Paint manufacturing firm for three years. 6. Have undertaken study and recommendations for increased productivity in an engineering firm on contract basis.
7. I am now working as Weallth Planner in Exide Life Insurance Co Ltd., (formerly ING Life Insurance Co. Ltd) and Advisor in Star Health and Allied Insurance Co. Ltd and earning commission on the Policies logged by me.
8. I have done lots of Translation work – English to Kannada and Kannada to English for Lekhaka

*My actual Date of Birth is 30-06-1937. While joining primary school in 1941, my father gave the date as 30-06-1936 to enable me to get admission into the school. Since then, I have not changed it and maintained the same in all official records.
