Paradise Café Maui Inc. Managing Partner 2003 – 2008

Managed all aspects of the restaurant including daily food service, purchasing, sales, accounting, human resources, administration and corporate affairs. While the operation succeeded in establishing significant customer satisfaction and loyal customer base, the Queen Kaahumanu Center Food Court’s excessive base rent, percentage rent and exorbitant CAM and Food Court CAM fees resulted in an unsustainable business.

Diamond Resort Hawaii Assistant General Manager 1990 - 2003

Responsible for entire hotel operations including the Rooms Division, exceptional F&B offerings, Sales & Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources and Admin. Served as island ambassador for Japanese Owners and Maui Community. Organized the hotel’s Grand Opening Team which involved the collaboration of locally hired staff and Japanese Hotel Team members.

Diamond Resort Corporation (Japan) Management Trainee 1989 - 1990

Immersed in the study of Japanese Private Clubs, Hotels and Golf Course Management in Osaka and Kyoto. Gained proficiency in Japanese language, Japanese Hospitality, Culture and Etiquette. As this occurred prior to the great bursting of the Japanese Bubble Economy, the experience was truly priceless.

Shelter Lodge (Juneau, Alaska) Operations Manager 1988 - 1990

Operated a 24-bed fishing lodge on a remote island in South East Alaska. Performed all duties involved in a fishing lodge operation: boat skipper, cook, fish cleaner, janitor and customer service. This was likely the most enjoyable job I ever had—getting paid to take people fishing!
