Purchasing Program Manager

Lead purchasing contact on multiple programs between corporate engineering, supplier engineering, supplier sales rep and corporate manufacturing. Would work from design concept through pricing negotiations to pilot builds into launch. Would ensure all materials and tooling were quoted to budget and quality materials delivered to manufacturing locations on time and to quality expectations. Would work on multiple programs concurrently and support truck and bus product centers. Would perform role as program manager on behalf of the purchasing team in support of the program manager overseeing all program activities.

Lead role for purchasing on program support for all axle programs, brake systems, cab interior and frame rails on trucks and busses. Would work with suppliers to ensure that prices were maintained for programs on an annual basis. Would work with manufacturing planners to ensure that materials were delivered to plants for all production builds leading up to full production launch.

Lead role for purchasing on variety of cost savings and quality improvement projects. Worked with specific engineering teams on electrical and miscellaneous projects to obtain savings through quality improvements and minor supplier cost sharing. Annual savings between the projects was over $1 million.

Miscellaneous program manager on cost and quality improvement projects. Led a team of purchasing program managers and specific engineers on the small bus projects which would obtain annual savings of nearly $1 million. Would see that team would test new designs for fit, form and function, pilot changes into plant builds and eventually launch product improvements.

Manufacturing facilitator and warehouse manager

Led manufacturing team at Ft. Wayne, IN facility in the daily, weekly and monthly production of line processes. Team was empowered to manage itself to meet production goals and standards. Would hire team members as needed and trained to be a cross functional independent team. Managed team of five warehouse members at the warehouses in Minneapolis and Atlanta. Would see that all routes were picked daily and product was managed to district manager expectations.

As manufacturing facilitator, I would work with a line team of 6-7 employees that would cross train members so the line could manage and staff itself for weekly production runs. In doing so, the team would be able to support any member who might be out due to illness or PTO and not have to run short- handed.

Would lead team to see that our weekly production goals were met or exceeded and report daily to management on team’s progress.

As warehouse manager, I would manage team of five warehouse employees that would receive daily shipments and pick daily sales orders. Developed team procedures to run daily cycle counts and keep inventory counts to 99% accuracy for monthly inventory counts.

Would order all products for city and regional route sales. Would maintain inventory levels low enough to meet management carrying cost levels while not shorting any sales orders.

Introduced warehouse employee bonus programs to incent employees to exceed expectation of sales managers and district manager.
